1662 Philip Edwards was admitted as an inhabitant of Dorchester, Massachusetts. [1]

1664 Philip Edwards: "Boston 9ber 9th 1664. Power of Administration to the Estate of the Late Philip Edwards, who was found drowned, is Graunted to William Trescott, in Behalfe of his wife, or the neerest of Kinne or others Concerned, Giving securitye, & c. Goods prised, by Thomas Jones, Henry Garnsey, at £14.15.01. Mentions Goodman Gurnill, Clem. Maxfeild, Tho. Bird, Lawrence Smithe, Goodman Garnsey, Captain Clappe, Robert Walker, Mr. Greenleife. Wm Trescott deposed." [2]

1671 Abiah Edwards' lawyer took action in court to gain control of the estate of his father, Philip Edwards. "Ordr about Phil: Edwards Estate Upon the request of William Holiway Attorney to Abiah Edwards the right heir to ye Estate of Phillip Edwards late of Dorchester, deceased, the Court orders William Trescott (who Administred on aforesaid Estate) to deliver it up to the abovesaid Holloway, he the above said Holloway giving security to this Court for the vallue that it may be to the use of the right heir abovesd." Research Notes:

Phyllipp Edwardd was found drowned by Captain Roger Clapp in the fort called the castle [Fort Independence] in Boston harbor. [4]

1653 Nathaniel Edwards, merchant, died, on 2nd, 11th month, in Boston. [5]

1661 Nicholas Edwards, a stranger, died 22 October at Barbadoes near Spixes Bay. [6]

1662 Henry Raynor and Johanna Edwards widow were married. [7]

1663 Thomas Edwards born to Thomas and Sarah Edwards. [8]

1697 John Allen and Elizabeth Edwards were married 22 July 1697 in Boston, Massachusetts. [9] [10]

1655 Will of Obadiah Edwards, Captain in the Regiment of Colonel Fortescue [perhaps in Barbados], was proved October 30, 1655. The will names brother-in-law Wm. Greenwood, sister Alice, several cousins, and land in Mildenhall, Suffolk, England. The will does not name any children or wife, so this Obadiah Edwards is unlikely to be an ancestor. 1655 Will of Phillip Edward, Husbandman of Llandewy-Ystradenny, Radnorshire [Wales] was probated 09 July, 1655. Money to the poor; tenement to James David eldest son of David Griffith, where I, Philip Edward and David David now live; sister Alice; Mary and Margaret, daughters of David Griffith; Margaret Lloyd the wife of John Ebans; niece Elizabeth James; David Griffith, wife and daughter; Mary Ong the wife of John; Anne, daughter of John Meredith; Meredith son of JohnMeredith; schooling for James David; David Griffith my nephew-in-law named sole executor. [Records of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, PROB 11/248/478, The National Archives, Kew] This will names no children or spouse, so Philip Edward is unlikely to be an ancestor. [12]
