1628 "Petrus filius Johannis Tomlyn et ... baptizati fuit" on September 28 at St John the Baptist, Margate, Kent, England. [1]

1652/53 "Petrus Tomlyn & Eliz. Wheately" were married on February 15 in St John the Baptist, Margate, Kent, England. [2]

1654 "Marie daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Tomlyn" was borne on May 22 in St John the Baptist, Margate, Kent. [3]

1656 "Sara the daughter of Peter Tomlin & of Elizabeth his wife was baptised the ninth day of September" in St John the Baptist, Margate, Kent. [4]

1659 "An Infant of Peter Tomlyn" was buried on July 9 in St John the Baptist, Margate, Kent. [5]

1659 "Elizabeth wife of Peter Tomlyn" was buried on July 22 in St John the Baptist, Margate, Kent. [6]

1670 A marriage license was granted to "Tomlin, Peter, of S. John in Thant. g., widr., and Bennet Gibbes of Ch. Ch., Cant., maiden, 40. At S. M. Bredin, Cant. Vincent Nethersole of Cant. g., bonds. July 13, 1670." [7]

1671 "Ann daughter of Peter and Benedict Tomlin" was baptized on June 1 in St John the Baptist, Margate, Kent. [8]

1703 Peter Tomlin wrote his will on August 23. [9]

In the name of God Amen I Peter Tomlin of the parish of St. Johns in the Isle of Thannet in the County of Kent Gentl, being weak in body, but of good and perfect Sense and memory (God be praised) doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following (that is to say) First I bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God, who made it, and my body to the Earth from whence it came to be buried at the discrecion of my Executrix hereafter named Alsoe I give and bequeath vnto the poor people of both the North Downes two pounds and ten shillings of lawful English money to be distributed amongst them by my Brother Walter and Son Omer as they in their discrecion shall see fitt, Alsoe I give and bequeath unto Sarah my Daughter wife of William Clun my house called poor hole in the parish of St. Peters in the Isle aforesaid with the two Acre Close and two Acres to be take out of the six acre Close, with the house barne Stable Yards Hovells and the Orchard thereunto belonging now in the Occupacion of the widow Griggs, during the Terme of her naturall Life--and after her decease to returne to my Executrix hereafter named my Executrix paying the summe of one hundered pounds within six months to be distributed amongst the Children of my said daughter Sarah the daughters to have a double parte or share, And further my will and meaning is, that if the house or any parte of the premisses be down or out of repair then my Executrix to detaine out of the 100 pounds above devised soe much money as shall repare the same, not exceeding twenty pounds and also I give and devise to my said daughter Sarah for and during the Terme of her naturall Life the full summe of five pounds yearly and every Yeare to be paid by my Executrix hereafter named at two distinct payments (that is to say) fifty shillings on St. Michael and fifty shillings on the Annunciation of the blessed Virgin Mary halfe Yearly to be paid, the first payment to begin on St Michael next following after my decease Also I give and devise unto my grandson Peter Omer all that my two Messuages Tenements with the Appurtenances situat in Margate in the said parish of St. Johns now in Occupacion of Edward Richardson and Dudley Diggs Junior To have and to hold unto the said Peter Omer the said two Messuages and Tenements with thappurtenances his heires and Assignes forever, and for want of Issue of the said Peter Omer, then to next oldest son of my son Omers successively. I will that the said Peter Omer receive no proffitts of the said Messuages till Michaelmas come twelve month after my decease Alsoe I give and devise unto Sarah Roger Richard Mary and James Children of my said son Roger Omer the summe of one hundred pounds of lawfull English money to be equally divided amongst the said children as they respectively attaine their severall Ages of one and twenty Yeares to be paid by my Executrix hereafter named Alsoe I give to my said son Roger Omer the full summe of ten pounds to be paid within twelve months after my decease Alsoe I give to my son Twyman the like sume of Ten pounds to be paid withing twelve months after my decease Alsoe I give and devise unto Elizabeth Hester Anne Mary and Phebe daughters of my daughter Twyman the full and just summe of one Thousand pounds to be equally divided amongst them, and if either of them should dye, then to divide that parte of the deceased equally amongst the Surviving Sisters to be paid to them as they respectively attaine to the Age of one and twenty yeares or dayes of marriage which shall First happen, which said Thousand pounds I charge upon that part of Updowne, which my wifes joynture is upon, and for the better Security for the payment of the said Thousand pounds, I will that the four Acres out of the Six Acre close and five Acres of Land towards Jordon Dane, which two peices of Land was lately purchased with Peere Hooke, and the Acre of Land, which was lately bought of Pirceson, and all other Land, not as Yet disposed on, which belongs to Updowne, I do hereby settle as a further Secuity fo the payment of the said Summe of one Thousand, Alsoe I give and devise to my loving wife Bennet, for and during the Term of her naturall Life all that my Messuage and Farme called Updowne, and being in the parish of St Johns and St Peters aforesaid with the Barnes, Stables, Yards, Outhouses Edifices buildings and all and singular the Lands Arable and Pasture thereunto belonging or appertaining or therewith used and enjoyed now in my owne Occupacon, and after the decease of my said loveing wife I give and devise the said Messuage Farmes and Lands Premisses and Appurtenances unto my grandson Peter Twyman son of my Daughter Anne Twyman and to the heires of his Body lawfully to be begotten and for want of such Issue then to the next son of my daughter, and his heires, if any should be, and for want of such Issue, then to the Eldest Daughter of my said daughter Ann Twyman and to her heires foreever, paying to and amongst her sisters (if any be) the summe of five hundred pounds of lawfull English money equall amongst them And in case that no issue be of ye said daughter Anne, neither Male nor Female, and she her selfe living, then I give all the said premisses to her for during her naturall Life, and after her decease, then to my said grandson Peter Omer, his heires and Assigns forever, paying to and amongst his Brothers and Sisters the summe of four hundred poundes of lawfull English money to be equally divided amongst them, And one hundred pounds to be paid to and amongst the children of my daughter Sarah Alsoe all the rest and remainder of my houses and Lands not herein otherwise disposed off, I give and devises unto my said loving wife Bennett her heires and Assigns forever, And alsoe all the Residue of my goods and chattalls whatsoever I give and bequeath to my said living wife Bennett, whom I make and ordaine my Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and Seale Dated this there and twentieth Day of August in the Yeare of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and three Peter Tomlin Sealed signed and declared to be the last WIll and Testament in the presence of Martha Philpot, Susanna Taddy her marke, Hamond Twyman.

1706 The will of Peter Tomlin was proved on April 23 in the Consistory Court of Canterbury, with administration granted to Bennett Tomlin, relict and executrix named in the will. [10]
