Daniel F. Johnson, New Brunswick Vital Statistics from Newpapers, Volume 80 Number 2661, July 8, 1891, Messenger and Visitor, Saint John, "d. St. John, N.B., 30th ult., Elizabeth Morse Smith w/o James M. Smith, 75th year. Sister Smith was a d/o Silas Morse of Bridgetown, N.S., who during the latter part of his life, devoted a good part of his time to preaching the Gospel. Although not an ordained man, Mr. Morse possessed rare gifts as a preacher and often rode through the country on horseback proclaiming the riches of divine life. His daughter, the subject of this sketch, was born in Bridgetown in 1816 and was baptized on profession of her faith at age 13. A number of years after her baptism she was married to James M. Smith, Esq. and with her husband removed to Windsor, N.S. and immediately afterwards connected herself to the Baptist church in this place. Dr. Welton, one of her pastors, was a near relative. About 14 years ago, Mr. Smith removed with his family from Windsor to St. John, N.B. Sister Smith immediately transferred her membership to the Brussells St. church."
