1256 April 5. Colchester. Respite, for a fine, to John de Moryeus from making himself a knight, for three years from Easter. [1]

"1298 Suffolk. Inq. made at Cattesham on Wednesday after the Epiphany (January 6), 26 Edw. I (8 January 1297/8) Thorp and Gouchesthorp, held by Hugh de Murieus for 2 knights' fees, of the same honour [of Lancaster], with the advowson of the church, rendering 20s. yearly for the same guard [of the castle of Lancaster]. [2]

1302-03 "Hundredum de Thetwardistre. Jurati ... qui dicunt de feodis militaribus existentibus in dicto hundredo quod ... Hugo de Murieus tenet unum tenementum in Falesham de abbate Sancti Edmundi i.e. per servicium di. f. m." [3]

1316 "Item est in eadem libertate hundredum de Corsford. Abbas de Sancto Edmundo est dominus ejusdem hundredi. Thorp - Hugo de Morieus" [4]

1346 "Hundred de Cosford ... Thomas de Moryeux tenet manerium de Thorp per j. f. m. de Comitate Lancastrie quod Hugo de Moryeux quondam tenuit in eadem villa eodem comite." [5]

"Muriaus, Sr Hugh de, Kt. (Morieus). De azure a iii foiles de moures de or. Suff. (Parl.). Holds Thorp and Gouchesthorp, Suff., as 2 Kt. Fees, late of P. Edm., 3 Jy. 1297 (Inq.) Hugh de Muryaus an assessor, etc. of subsidy, Suff., 4 Nov. 1301, and 1302 (P.R.) Sr Hugh de M., Kt., a witness at Pakenham, Suff. 24 Oct. 1305 (C.R.) Kt. of Shire, Suff., 23 Sep. 1313, and a lord of Thorp, Suff., 5 Mar. 1316 (P.W.) He and w. Marger complain that men took her goods at Denham, Suff., 16 Mar. 1319 (P.R.) [7]
