Notes for Thomas Richards alias Fermor and Emmote Harvey

1485 Thomas Ricardis als Fermor of Witteney in the diocese of Lincoln wrote his will on September 9. He made monetary bequests to his wife Emmote, to his sons William, John, Laurence, and Richard, and to the children, Alice Wayneman, John Waynman, and Elizabeth Waynman, of his spouse Emmote and her first husband Henry Waynman. He bequeathed his land and tenements in Witteney and Hayle to his son William, in Cogges and Burford to his son John, in Chadlington to his son Laurence, and in Filkinge and Langford to his son Richard. His executrix Emmote his wife was to have custody of the legacies of his sons William, John, Laurence, and Richard until they reached age 20 years. [1] His will was abstacted as "Thomas Ricards, alias Fermour, senior of Whitney, in Oxfordshire, September 9th, 1485. My body to be buried in the Chapel of St. Mary Magdalen, in the Church of Whitney. To the altar of the Chancel of the Blessed Virgin in that Church, for my tithes forgotten xx l.; to the building of the aisle of the blessed Mary Magdalen, in the Church called Carsewell aisle xx l.; to Emmote, my wife, cc l. with my goods and utensils in my house at Whitney; to William, my son, cc marks, and all my lands in the villages of Cogges and Burford; to Laurence, my son, cc marks and all my land in Chadlington; to Richard, my son, cc marks and all my lands in Filkingre and Langford; to Alice, John, and Elizabeth Wenman, children of Emmote my spouse, by Henry Wenman, to their marriages, x l. vii s.; all the residue of my goods, lands, &c. until my sons come to the age of twenty-one years, I bequeath to Emmote, my wife, whom I constitute my executrix; and I appoint Sir Richard Harcourt, Knight, supervisor of this will. 1485 The will of Thomas Ricardis als Fermor was proved and administration granted to Emmote his widow and executrice on November 8. [5]
