1543 Thomas Barnardiston, son of Sir Thomas Barnardiston of Ketton and Great Coates and Mary Walsingham, was born about 1543, as he was "aged 8, 27 July 1551" at the time of his father's IPM. [1]

1559 Thomas Barnardiston was admitted to the Inner Temple in November." [2]

1564 Thomas Barnardiston and Elizabeth Hanchet were married by 1564.

1564 On August 23, son Thomas Barnardiston was baptized in Braughing, Hertfordshire. [3]

1565 On 5 August, daughter Elizabeth Barnardiston was baptized in Braughing, Hertfordshire. [4]

1578 Thomas Barnardiston was knighted at Bury St. Edmunds on 5 August. [5]

1580 Thomas Barnardiston was "High Sheriff of Suffolk, 21 November 1580" (date of appointment). [6] [7]

1584 Elizabeth (Hanchet) Barnardiston died on September 26. [8] A tomb in the church of St Peter and St Paul in Kedington, Suffolk, depicts Thomas and Elizabeth Barnardiston as recumbent effigies lying side by side. [9] An inscription states,

vxor eivs qvi Thomas obiit A [blank] dicta avtem
vxor obiit Ao 1584 Sep 26 Aeta 39
qvibvs erant 5 filij filiae 3

1587/8 Thomas Barnardiston married Anne Bygrave. Their marriage licence (Bishop of London) was dated 3 February. [10]

1619 Thomas Barnardiston died on December 23. [11]

Sir Thomas Barnardiston of Clare, co. Suffolk, knight; admitted to the Inner Temple November 1559; aged 8, 27 July 1551; knighted at Bury St. Edmunds 5 August 1578; High Sheriff for co. Suffolk 21 November 1580; died 23 December 1619. Will dated 28 September 1619, proved 2 February 1619/20 (P.C.C. 16 Soame). Inq. p. m. taken at Bury St. Edmunds 22 September 1620 (C. Vol. 383, No. 86)" married (1) Elizabet Hanchett, dau. of Thomas Hanchet of Hamels, in Braughing, co. Herfford; died age 39, 26 September 1584, buried at Ketton" and married (2) Anne Bygrave, marriage licence (Bishop of London) dated 3 February 1587/8; executrix to her husband's will 2 Frbruary 1619/20. Will dated 3 June 1640, proved 7 July 1641 (P.C.C.91 Evelyn)"

The London visitation of 1634 entry for Thomas Barnardiston of Colman Streete indicates that "Sir Thomas Barnardiston of Ketton, com. Suff. Knight, [married] da. of Hanchot" and that they had a son "Sir Thomas Barnardiston of Witham, com. Essex, Knight." [13]
