There are many here and elsewhere who will learn with deep regret of the death lsrael Good. the sad event having taken place at his home near Walhalla on last Sunday, Feb. 19th at 6 o'clock a. m. He had been in exceedingly feeble health for a long while, and was confined to his room the greater part of the time for the past two years. Mr. Good was born in Ohio about 80 years ago. On Sept. 30th. 1866, he was married to Miss Magdalena Berkholder, of Ohio. To that union five children were born, all of whom are living. They are J. H. Good, of Cordele, Ga.; Mrs. J, H. Lawrence, of Mildleton, Ga.; Mrs. J. L. Singleton, of Florida; D. E. Good, of Walhalla, and Mrs. Effie Ernest, of Glenville. N. C. Mr. Good moved to this section from the North in the year 1896 locating on the fine farm on which he died, just a mile from Walhalla. Mr. Good was an up-to-date farmer, orchard man and stock raiser. He took great pride in his work and did it well. He was one of our very best citizens, always standing for the right and out and out against the wrong. He was a great lover of home and home ties. He spent the greater part of his time in his home wlth his loved ones. He provided well for his wite and children, thereby making them happy and content. His home was not only a happy place for his loved ones and himself, but for all who entered the home, where the stranger, as well as the intimate friend, was made at home and welcome. Mr. Good was a Deacon in the Rockey Knoll Baptist church and had held this position of honor for a number of years. He filled the office well and honorably. He was a true friend and helper to his pastor and was willing to spend and to be spent for the cause of Christ. ln the passing of this good man Oconee county has lost one of her best citizens, the settlement in which he lived a fine and ever helpful neighbor, and Rocky Knoll church a true member. But let us remember that God doeth all things well, Our Lord giveth his blessed sleep, and again let us listen to Jesus as He calls "Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." The funeral was conducted on the 20th of February at 10.30 a. m. by Rev. L. M. Lyda, pastor of the deceased, after which the body was laid to rest in West View cemetery. Walhalla. We join with others in extending to the bereaved ones Sympathy in their sorrow.
