Abraham Beery, born July 23, 1789, died March 1, 1853. Elisabeth Wenger, born near Edom, Va., April 13, 1796, and died Feb. 27, 1869. (See Wenger History.) Abraham Beery is supposed to have been born at his father's homestead, now (1905) owned by Mrs. Anna Wampler, one and one-half miles south of Edom, Rockingham Co., Va. After marriage he lived for a time on Muddy Creek (hence called " Muddy Creek Abe ") near what is now called Singers Glen in the above county. The greater part of his life was spent on a farm which he bought two miles north of Harrisonburg on the Kratzer Spring road. Later on, during the years of 1860 and thereafter, this farm has been in possession of Mr. Emanuel Rhodes. Mr. Beery died at the above place, and was buried at the Lindale Mennonite church cemetery. He and wife and all their children, except one, were Mennonites.
