1398/99 The IPM for Walter's sister Joyce indicates that Walter was born by 1 March 1398/99. [1]

She died on 7 September last. John Tiptoft is 40 years and more. Walter Colepepir is her brother and heir, aged 24 years and more.

1430 In the Court of Common Please in Easter Term in Kent, John Hadde, of Sutton Valence, husbandman, and William Betherynden of Mawefeld, Sussex, gent, answered the suit of Walter Colpeper and Agnes, his wife, concerning trespass: close in Goudeherst and Cranebroke. [2]

1434 "County: Kent. Place: Westminster. Date: The day after Ascension, 12 Henry VI [7 May 1434]. And afterwards one week from St Hilary, 14 Henry VI [20 January 1436]. Parties: Humphrey, duke of Gloucester, and Eleanor, his wife, querents, and John Colepeper, knight, and Julian, his wife, Walter Colepeper, esquire, and Agnes, his wife, and Nicholas Colepeper, esquire, and Elizabeth, his wife, deforciants.
Property: 1 messuage, 2 tofts, 2 mills, 3 gardens, 179 acres of land, 26 acres and a moiety of 1 acre of meadow, 69 acres of wood, 3 acres of heath and 19 shillings and 9 pence of rent in Pepyngbury, Tudele and Tunbrugge and the advowson of the chantry of the blessed Mary of Pepyngbury. Action: Plea of covenant. Agreement: John and Julian, Walter and Agnes, Nicholas and Elizabeth have acknowledged the tenements and advowson to be the right of Eleanor, as those which the duke and Eleanor have of their gift, and have remised and quitclaimed them from themselves and the heirs of Julian, Agnes and Elizabeth to the duke and Eleanor and the heirs of Eleanor for ever.
Warranty: Warranty against the prior of Combwell and his successors. For this: The duke and Eleanor have given them 200 marks of silver." [3] [4]

1444 "County: Kent. Place: Westminster. Date: The day after Ascension, 22 Henry VI [22 May 1444]. Parties: Richard Grouehurst, gentleman, John Horden' the younger and John Sharp' the younger, querents, and Walter Colepeper, esquire, and Agnes, his wife, deforciants. Property: 4 messuages in Cantuar'. Action: Plea of covenant.
Agreement: Walter and Agnes have acknowledged the messuages to be the right of John Horden', as those which the same John, Richard and John Sharp' have of their gift, and have remised and quitclaimed them from themselves and the heirs of Agnes to Richard, John and John and the heirs of John Horden' for ever. Warranty: Warranty.
For this: Richard, John and John have given them 20 pounds sterling. [5] [6]

1457 Agnes, daughter of Edmund "Robar" and wife of Walter Culpeper, died on December 2 and was buried in Bedgebury, Goudhurst, Kent. "Orate pro animabus Walteri Culpeper Ar. et Agnetis vxoris sue qui quidem Walterus erat filius Thome Culpeper militis, et predicta Agnes erat filia Edmundi Robar iuxta Cantuar. et predicta Agnes obiit 2. die Decemb. Ann. Dom. 1457. et predictus Walt. obiit 24. Nouemb. 1462. quorum animabus." [7]

1462 Walter Culpeper, son of Thomas Culpeper, died on 24 November and was buried in Bedgebury, Goudhurst, Kent, with his wife Agnes (see above tombstone transcription). [8]
