Notes for Jacob Ebersole and Catherine Witmer

Research Notes:

There were potentially four Jacob Ebersole families living in Donegal Twp, Lancaster County at the same time, which we suspect were two father and son combinations. Their notes might be incorrectly mixed together below. One pair was father Jacob (1724-1785) with wife Frances Veronica [1] and son Jacob Ebersole (1756-1828) with wife Fronica Mellinger. Another pair, whose notes are shown below, was father Jacob Ebersole (1715-1790), perhaps with wife Catherine Witmer, and son Jacob (1753-?) with wife Barbara Good (whose family we are also researching). We seek further documentation to sort out these families.

1782 On June 15, Jacob Eversole and Catherine his wife, late Catherine Witmer, and Christian Beam, administrators of the estate of Jacob Witmer of Donegal Twp, Lancaster County, gave an account to the Lancaster County Orphans Court. [2]

1790 Jacob Ebersole [Eversohl] wrote his will in Donegal Twp, dated May 1, 1790 and probate December 14, 1793. Wife: Catharine Eversohl. Children: Jacob, John, Magdalena, Benjamin, Susanna, Maria, Elizabeth and Ann. Executors: Jacob Eversohl and John Lonegnecker. [3] [4] On 14 December, witnesses Daniel Smith and Peter Root testified that the will, written in German, was valid [5]
