1992 "Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Heizer, the former Dorcas Wheeler, of North Leweisburg, will celbrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday. The couple was married March 14, 1942 in the Friends Church. To honor their anniversary friends are invited to a buffet reception to be held on Sunday, March 15 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the North Lewisburg Community Room in the Municipal Building Fire Hall. Heizer is retired but continues to sell products from his home and Mrs. Heizer makes hand-loomed rugs and placemats. They are the parents of six children, Mrs. John (Rachel) Hoskinson of Canton, Mrs Walter (Rose Mary) Jackson of Nort Lewisburg, Mrs. Charles (Rebecca) Guisinger of Enon, David Heizer of North Lewisburg, Mrs James (Ruth) Chevalley of Macon, Ga. and Mrs Stephen (Rhoda) Bosco of Coral Springs, Fla. 2006 "Leonard Heizer, 85, of North Lewisburg, died Saturday, June 17, 2006, at his residence. He attended the River of Life Christian Church and was a member of the Carpenter's Union. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He enjoyed gardening and singing in the church choir and enjoyed his fruit trees. He was born May 6, 1921, in South Vienna, Ohio, the son of the late James W. and Estie Alcie Early Heizer. He also was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lida Dorcas Heizer in 2003; five brothers, George E., Dean, James Marion, Byron and Harold; a sister, Sarah E. Heizer; and two grandsons, Jason Chevalley and Steve Jackson. He is survived by his daughters, Rachel (John) Hoskinson of North Canton, Rose Mary (Walter) Jackson of North Lewisburg, Rebecca (Charles) Guisinger of Enon, Ruth (Donald) Erickson of Georgia, and Rhoda (Steve) Bosco, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a son David (Shelia) Heizer of Ostrander; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a "daughter in love," Frances Heizer of North Lewisburg; and a sister, Eloise Boerger of Marysville. Calling hours will be Tuesday, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the River of Life Christian Church, 775 Washington Ave., Urbana, with Pastor Dan Leiker officiating.
