Notes for Michael Wise and Elizabeth

1811 Samuel Wise, son of Michael and Elizabeth Weise, was born on April 20, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [1] [2] [3]

1814 Michael Wise and wife Elizabeth, of Dickinson Twp, sold land to Nicholas Pupp. Deed dated December 6. Michael Wise and John Musser had purchased the land in 1812. John Musser sold his share to Michael Wise. [4]

1817 Michael Wise and wife Elizabeth, of Dickinson Twp, sold land to Jacob Chronister on April 8. Michael had purchased the 60 acre tract, part of a larger tract called Spring Mills, in Dickinson Twp from John Musser on August 20, 1830. [5]

1818 Elisabeth Weise, daughter of Michael and Elisabeth Weise, was born on August 25 in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [6] [7]

1819 Samuel and Elizabeth Wise, children of Michael and Elizabeth Weise, were baptized on April 9, at the Lutheran Church in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [8] [9]

1820 Michael Wise lived in Dickinson Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (under 10), 1 (16 thru 25), and 1 (26 thru 44); and females: 1 (under 10), 1 (10 thru 15), and 1 (26 thru 44). [10]

1825 Sarah Ana Weise, daughter of Michael and Elisabeth Weise, was born on September 19, 1825 and was baptized on September 24, 1825 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [11]

1830 Michl Wise lived in Dickinson Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (under 5), 1 (15 thru 19), 1 (20 thru 29), 1 (30 thru 39), and 1 (40 thru 49); and females: 1 (under 5), 2 (5 thru 9), 1 (10 thru 14), and 1 (30 thru 39). [12]

1830 Michael Wise, perhaps this one, attended the estate sale for Martin Kitch in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

1840 Michael Wise (age 50-60) lived in Dickinson, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. The household with male (age 5-10, Michael), male (age 15-20, Samuel), female (age 5-10, Catherine), female (age 10-15), female (age 15-20), and female (age 40-50). [13]

1846 Michael Wise and wife Elizabeth of Virginia, sold land to Daniel Keller on January 28. Michael had purchased the tract in Dickinson Township, Cumberland County, from Peter Palm, on August 9, 1842. [14]

1850 Michael Wise (age 62) and Elizabeth (age 55) lived in Frederick County, Virginia with Sarah (age 22), Michael (age 21), Catharine (age 19), and David Hoover (age 12). [15]

1850 Caroline Wise and Lewis C. Albin were married on March 19 in Frederick County, Virginia. Caroline Wise was a daughter of Michael Wise. [16]

1856 Michael A Wise, age 26, and Mary Elizabeth Canter were married on February 26 in Frederick County, Virginia. Michael A Wise, son of Michael Wise and Elizabeth Wise, was born in 1830 in Cumberland County, PA. [17]

1860 Michael Wise (age 72) and Salome (age 62, born Virginia) lived in Frederick County, Virginia. [18]

1865 Michael A Wise died on April 18 at Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania and was buried at Bakers Church Cemetery, Churchtown, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Michael A Wise was born on April 15, 1787. [19] [20] [21]

1870 Saloma Wise (age 72, born Virginia) lived in Frederick County, Virginia in the household of John W Grein. Samuel and Sarah Wise were listed on the same page of the census. [22]

Research Notes:

We are researching Michael Wise, son of Jacob Wise and Anna Maria Haffner. We have found no direct link between this Michael Wise family and the son of Jacob, other than coincidence of time and place and DNA match

Michael Wise was named in a biography of grand-son John M Wise with the following description [23]:

His grandfather, Michael Wise, was a Pennsylvania farmer and died near Carlisle, that state. Among his children were Samuel, Michael, Caroline, who married Comer Albin; Mary, whose first husband was Mr. Long and the second, Daniel Brindle; Annie, who married John Childs; and Catherine, who married John Yowell.
