Before whom: Richard de Kele, Mayor of Lincoln; Hugh de Carleton, Clerk. When taken: 29/12/1332, First term: 04/04/1333, Writ to: Sheriff of Lincs, Sent by: John de Blyton, Mayor of Lincoln; Hugh de Carleton, Clerk. Endorsement: Lincoln' Coram Justic'.

1334 Thomas de Barnardiston petitioned the King regarding the manor of Wheatley near Doncaster. [2]

Petitioner: Thomas de Bernardeston (Barnardiston).
Addressee: King.
Nature of request: Bernardeston states that he was seised of the manor of Wheatley near Doncaster by purchase, and that he understands that the king has granted the same manor to Talbot for the term of his life and without cause. He requests the king order deliverance of the manor since it is not held of the king and nothing is charged to the king. Nature of endorsement: If he has been ousted from the manor he is to sue by a more specific petition.

1346 Thomas de Barnardiston held a half fee in Great Cotes in Lincolnshire. [3]

1350 February 20. Westminster. "Commission of oyer and terminer to William de Thorpe, Thomas de Barnaston, Roger de Aisterby and William de Skipwyth, on complaint by Richard de Waltham, parson of the church of Croxby, that Robert Porter of Grymesby, Simon de Snayth of Grymesby, Robert de Redburne of Grymesby, Robert Typill of Grymesby, John de Spaune of Grymesby, John Ingson of Grymesby, John de Bolyngton of Grymesby, William Sevan of Grymesby, Hugh Cartwright of Grymesby and others, assaulted him at Grymesby, co. Lincoln, carried away his goods and assaulted his men and servants, whereby he lost their service for a great time. By fine of 1 mark paid in the hanaper." [4]

1367/8 March 12. Westminster. "Commission to William de Fyncheden, Roger Lassell, Thomas de Barneston, Gerard de Gremston, Roger de Meres, William de Burton and William Gascon to make inquisition in the counties of York and Lincoln touching the goods late of Walter de Gousile, 'chivaler,' forfeited to the king by reason of his rebellion, and oppressions, forestalleries, champerties, ambidextries, damages, grievances and excesses perpetuated in those counties, and all wools, hides and other customable merchandise, uncoketted and uncustomed, and corn and other victuals taken without the realm against the king's prohibition." Lincolnshire Pedigrees states that Thomas Barnardiston married Lucy, daughter and heir of Robert Havering of Norfolk. [7]

Sir Thomas de Barnardiston of Ketton, Sufflok, Barnardiston, Suffolk, and Great Cotes, Lincoln, had a grant of free warren in Kediton and Barnardiston 21 Edward III., 1347; a Knight of the Shire for Lincoln 1357; in the wars of Edward III.; summoned to attend the King at Roxburgh, by writ dated from thence 1 Feb. 9 Edward III,; had Letters of Protection 30 Edward III., as "Thomas de Barnardiston, chevalier;" bur. at Kedington.
