"Sir Thomas Barnardiston of Ketton and Great Coates, knight; aged 23 and more 1 December 1503; died 7 November 1542, bur. at Ketton. Will dated 6 November 1542, proved 8 November 1542 (P.C.C. 11 Spert). Inq. p. m. taken at Sudbury, co. Suffolk, 5 April 1543 (C. Vol. 68, No. 4)." maried Anne Lucas, dau. of Thomas Lucas of Little Saxham, co. Suffolk, Solicitor General to Henry VII.; executrix to her husband's will 8 November 1542. Will dated 26 December 1559, proved 3 May 1560 (P.C.C. 26 Mellershe)." [1]

1520 October 8 "Title Deed (i) Owen Godfrey, clerk, and John Hervy, late of Kirtling to (ii) Thomas Lucas, John Cutte and Thomas Barnardiston. Quitclaim of all right of (i) in the manor of Risby called Charmans, as two messuages, two tofts, a mill, a dovehouse, 500a. of land, 18a. of meadow, 200a. [sic] of pasture, three free folds and 20/- of rent in Risby, Barrow, Saxham, Lackford, Flempton and West Stow, on which a fine was levied at Westminster in the octave of St. John the Baptist 1507 between Thos. Lucas, John Cutte, kt., Thomas Barnardiston and (i), and Robert Suthwell, kt., John Aleyn, then one of the barons of the Exchequer, William Eyre and Thomas Jermyn, now decd., quer., and William Childe and Margaret his wife, defore. Endorsed: Relaxacon A. Godfrey et J. Hervey de manir' de Charmans. Seals: red wax: 1. Poor impression. 2. Large seal, armorial." [2]
