1734 David Curtis, son of David Curtis, of Shrewsbury married, 4 mo., 1734, Meribah Herbert, daughter of Walter and Sarah (Tilton) Herbert, born in Shrewsbury, 12 mo., 10, 1712. At this marriage his mother, who had not yet been two months married to her second husband, Joseph Lawrence, signed her name as Rachel Lawrence. [1] [2]

1755 Meriby [Meribah] Curtis was named as the daughter of Dr. Walter Herbert in his will in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Executor - David Curtis, Senior. [3]

1755 On 26 of month 11, Ann Curtis married Samuel White at the house of David Curtis in Shrewsbury. [4]

1757 "by information of the Squon overseers it appears that Joseph Lawrence Harbor Cortes & David Curtis Junior has given money to hire men to go in the army and this meeting desire the overseers to acquaint the aforesaid friends this meeting expects them att our next meeting to condemn the affairs to friends satisfaction." [5]

1774 David Curtis, of Shrewsbury Twp, Monmouth County dated his will on 12 February. A certain agreement made between my wife, Sarah, and me, before marriage, is to be fulfilled. Eldest son, David, £5. Son, Thomas, 5 shillings, and he is to have a piece of land. Daughter, Mereby Curtis, £100. Daughters, Anne, Rachel and Mereby, rest of moveable estate. The lands which I bought of Samuel and Derick Longstreet to "be sold, except my sons, Thomas and Walter, choose to keep the land and pay what is due on it. Son, Walter, the rest of my lands and my rights on Manasquan Beach. Executors—sons, Thomas and Walter, and my friend, David Curtis, son of John. Witnesses— Samuel Lawrence, Lewis Ellison, John Morris. Proved March 7, 1774. [6]

1774 On 12 February, David Curtis died and was reported buried at Quaker Cemetery, Manasquan, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [7]

1777 On May 5, Humphrey Williams and Meribah Curtis stated their intentions to marry, to the Shrewsbury meeting in Monmouth. William had consent of his parents and they are desired to get the consent of her step-mother. [10]

1777 On June 2, Humphrey Williams produced a paper from Sarah Curtis setting forth that she had no objections to her daughter-in-laws marriage. [11]
