Notes for William Scott and Alice

1671 "Upon ye 22th day of ye 7th month in ye yeare 1671 William Scott of Wedinton and Alice his wife had borne unto them a daughter and they called her name Alice." [1]

1673 "Upon ye 6th day of ye 10th month in ye yeare 1673 William Scott of Weedingtun and Alice his wife had borne unto them a son and they called his name William." [2]

1674/75 Alice the dafter of William Scott of Weedington and Alice his wife being deceased was buried in the ground of Thomas Cornell at Sewersend upon the 17th day of the 12th month in the year 1674. [3]

1676 "Upon ye 23rd day of ye 8th month in ye yeare 1676 William Scott of Wedington and Alice his wife had borne unto them a dafter and they called her name Alice." [4]

1676 William the sonne of William Scott of Wedington and his wife Alice being deceased was buried in Friend's Burying ground in Walden the 23th of the 10th month in the year 1676. [5]

1677 John Kinsey, gentleman, late of Hartford Co, England deeded land to Benjamin Scott, husbandman, of Weddington, Essex Co and William Scott Jr, of same. [6]

1680 The will of William Scott, Yeoman of Widdington, Essex was proved 22 December 1680. "In the name of God Amen The second day of October Anno Domini 1680 I William Scott of Widdington in the County of Essex yeoman being sick of body but of perfect mind and memory praises be unto Almighty God for the same yet knowing that my time here upon Earth is but short and my life uncertain I doe therefore hereby make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament revoking all other wills by me formerly made Imprimis I give and bequeath unto Alice my beloved wife all those my two customary messuages or tenements situate in Widdington aforesaid called Springsmill with all the yards gardens orchards outhouses and buildings and all other my free and customary lands what soever within the parish of Widdington aforesaid towards the bringing up of all my children for and during the term of eighteene yeares next after my decease upon condic[i]on that the said Alice my wife shall maintain and provide for all my children until that they are fitting to be put forth to serve and alsoe that she or her assigned shall maintaine and keep all my houses and buildings with all mindfull repaires as oftin as need shall require and alsoe shall pay and discharge all the Lords rents that shall become due for the same during the term of eighteen yeares and also the said Alice my wife or her assigns shall not at any time within the said term of eighteen years fill down or store up any timber or trees now growing upon any part thereof except it be for to be used in needfull repayres upon any of the buildings or fences and from and after the term of eighteen years next after my decease my will and mind is that the aforesaid messuages or tenements and all other my free and customary lands shall be and remaine unto William Scott my son and of his heires and assignes forever upon condition that the said William Scott my son his heires or assignes shall and doe will and truely pay or cause to be paid unto Alice Scott my daughter the full and whole sume of one hundred pounds of lawful money of England when as he shall accomplish the full age of one and twenty yeares of age being lawfully demanded and if in case the said William Scott my son or his heirs shall or doe refuse to pay the said sum of one hundred pounds unto the said Alice Scott my daughter being then lawfully demanded that then I doe hereby give and bequeath all those my two messuages or tenements aforesaid called Springswell with all the yards gardens orchards outhouses and buildings and all these my closes there unto adjoining and alsoe all that my p[ar]cell of arable land called webbscroft with their appurtinances shall be and remaine for the proper use and behoofe of the said Alice Scott my daughter and of her heires and assignes forever Item I give and bequeath unto Alice my well beloved wife all those my moveable goods and chattels whatsoever that shall be mine at the time of my decease upon condition that the said Alice my wife shall and doe enter into a bond of one hundred and sixty pounds unto Benjamin Scott my brother that she the said Alice my wife her executors or administrators shall will And truly pay or cause to be paid unto that my son or daughter that now she goweth with child with the sum of eighty pounds of lawful money of England when that shall be of the age of one and twenty yeares of age and then living and that child lawfully demandeth the said sume of eighty pounds Item I give and bequeath unto Benjamin Scott my brother the sum of five pounds of lawful money of England to be paid to him by Alice my wife within two yeares next after my decease being demanded and I doe hereby make and ordaine the said Alice my wife and the said Benjamin Scott my brother executors of this my last will and testament desiring him to see all things performed according to the true meaning hereof. In witnesse whereof I have hereunto set to my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written William Scott sealed published and declared to be his last will and testam't In the presence of William Pomphelin, Thomas Baxter, Symon Hayward Scr." 1680 "Will' Scott of Weedingtun in the county of Essex being deceased was buryed in Friends burying ground at Walden upon the 10th day of the 8th month of the yeare 1680." [9]

1702 At St Mary the Virgin, Widdington, Essex, England "John Scot the son of William and Allice Scot was baptized upon the thirtieth day of December 1702. (He was one and twenty years of age upon the last day of May last past.)" [10]
