1860 B H Reed (age 28, born in Ohio) lived in Peoria Twp, Franklin County, Kansas Territory, in a household with R R Reed (age 56), C Reed (age 58), A D Reed (age 26), O J Reed (age 20), C E Reed (age 15), I G Reed (age 13), L E Gray (age 18), D S Gray (age 2), and H T Gray (age 1). [2]

1864 Byron H Reed, of the 12th regiment, Kansas infantry, company D, was sick in the military hospital at Paola, Kansas, under the command of Joel Klunton. [3] [4]

1865 B. H. Reed (age 33) lived in Peoria, Franklin County, Kansas, in household with siblings and Robert Reed (age 60). [5]

1956 Son Harold B Reed died on February 4 at Los Angeles County, California and was buried at Los Angeles National Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. Harold B Reed was born on November 27, 1878. [21] [22]

1956 Daughter Gertrude L Reed Sailors died on June 14 and was buried at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas. Gertrude L Reed Sailors was born on January 14, 1886. [23] [24]

1958 Albert E Reed died on March 3 and was buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Orlando, Orange County, Florida. Albert E Reed was born in 1880. [25] [26]

A biosketch reports [27]:

Byron H. Reed, stock-raiser, P. O. Rantoul, was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, December 13, 1831, and reared on a farm. In 1854 he removed to Iowa, and came to Kansas in the fall of 1855, locating in Franklin County, near here, and resided with his father, Robert Reed. About 1872 he purchased his present farm, but did not move his family on to it until 1878. He has 228 acres of land, and makes a specialty of dealing in and raising live stock. He made a trip to Denver, Col., a few years ago, and is interested in mining pursuits in that State. Mr. Reed also corresponds for several of our leading Western newspapers. During the war he served in Company D, Twelfth Kansas Infantry as a private. He was tendered a commission several times, but preferred to remain in the ranks. He was married at Paola, Kansas, July 26, 1877, to Annie V. Denison. They have a family of two children--Harold B. and Albert E.
