1870 David Rohrer (age 13) worked on the farm of his step-father, Samuel Neterer (age 38) and Elisabeth Neterer (age 36) in Harrison Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana. [4] [5]

1878 David H Rohrer and Mary E Mcdonald were married on June 20 in Elkhart County, Indiana, by John D Umbenhour. [6]

1880 David H Rohrer (age 23) and Mary E Rohrer (age 22) lived in Nappanee, Elkhart County, Indiana with son William A. (age 6 months). [7]

1900 David H Rohrer (age 42), salesman, and Mary E Rohrer (age 41) lived in Concord, Elkhart County, Indiana with Clarence E (age 19) Edgar R (age 17), Guy N (age 15), James R (age 8), and William H (age 20). [8]

1900 William H Rohrer (age 20, born Indiana) was listed in the Military and Naval Forces in Tayabas, Philippine Islands. [9] [10]

1908 Edgar R Rohrer and Violett Everett were married on July 8 in South Bend, Elkhart County, Indiana. Edgar, son of D H Rohrer and Mary E Mcdonald, was born on December 23, 1882. [11] [12]

1910 David H Rohrer (age 52), farmer, and Mary E Rohrer (age 51) lived in Galveston, Texas with James Russell (age 18). [13]

1920 David H Rohrer (age 62), real estate agent, and Mary E Rohrer (age 61) lived in Houston, Texas. [14]

1931 Mary E. Rohrer died on March 19 and was buried at Forest Park Cemetery, Houston, Harris County, Texas. [15]

1941 David H. Rohrer died on April 3 and was buried at Forest Park Cemetery, Houston, Harris County, Texas. [16] [17]

1960 William H Rohrer died on March 17 in Houston Texas. William was the son of David H Rohrer and Mary E Mcdonald. [18]

A biosketch of David H. Rohrer reports [19]:

David H Rohrer, clerk in the dry-goods and grocery store of Dietrich & Co., was born in this county June 10, 1857, of German descent. He is the only child of Henry and Elizabeth Huntsberger Rohrer; his mother is now living in Harrison tp and was born in Pennsylvania in 1831; his father died in October, 1857, at the age of 28 years; he was a native of the same State. They came to this county in 185- and settled in Harrison tp where his father died. Mr. R. the subject of this sketch, came to this tp in October 1878; he was married in the same year to Mary E McDonald who was born in this county May 9 1858; they have had 1 child namely William H. Politically Mr R is a Republican. His opportunities for securing an education were only moderate, being confined to a few months school in the winter; however he is one of those self made young men who never give up, and now he takes an active part in everything of a literary nature and also speaks German. He owns a dwelling house in Nappanee worth about $1,000, and a business house, occupied by Dietrich & Co, worth about $2,000. The subject of this sketch was brought up on a farm until he came to Nappanee, when he occupied the position of clerk with the above firm. He was formerly with Charpie & Fluegel in the same business at Nappanee until February 1880. Mr R is an enterprising energetic business young man.
