Edward Hinson of Everwharton parish of Stafford County, perhaps this one, sold, to Robert Carter of Lancaster County, 391 acres on the north side of Potomac River, which had been granted to Joseph Hinson on 16 March 1694 and was given to Edward by his father's will. Sold for 7,000 pounds of tobacco. [1].
1729 On 8 September, Edmond Hanson was granted 254 acres 1 r. 9 perches in Stafford county on the north side of Potowmack Run, and adjoining Thomas Waugh. "Whereas Edmond Hanson of Stafford county did on ye sixth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twenty eight set forth to ye property office ye equitable pretensions he had to part of nine hundred acres of land ? said county ? by Lewis .?. County of ? which said land is part of a patent of sixteen hundred acres granted unto one Edward Ro? (Roger, see later in text) & Charles Hoyle, which Hoyle dying first by his last will gave all his estate Mov? immovable that is goods and chattels whatever unto his daughter & heiress Elizabeth Hansen then married to Joseph Hansen both since dec'd of whom the above said Edmond Hansen is ye last? son living & the said Roger ye survivor by his last will & testam't gave all ye said nine hundred acres of land unto Anne Matthews, John Moor, and James Barron which said died as appears by said Rogers will was then in ye possession of ye said Joseph Hanson; James Barron surviving divisee of ye said Rogers sold the said land unto John Waugh of Stafford county aforesaid who dying did by his last will bearing dates eighth day of Oct in ye year seventeen hundred & sixteengave one moiety of ye land unto his son Thomas Waugh and the other moiety unto Thomas Elzy who was joint purchaser with him of ye land and father of ye above mentioned Lewis Elzy & the said land being found for want of heirs of ye said Rogers to escheat to ye proprieters by an inquisition took by George Elridge gentleman deputy escheat of our said proprieters upon said oaths of twelve lawful freeholders under their hands and seals to wit, Matthew Keener who brought in this ? We do find that Edward Rogers and Charles Hoyle in ye year sixteen hundred sixty nine were seized of nine hundred acres of land part of a patent of fifteen hundred acres in Stafford county by ye said Charles Hoyle by his last will and testament bearing date tenth day of April anno domini sixteen hundred & seventy nine devised all his right of ye same to his daughter and heiress Elizabeth Hanson the said will was proved in Stafford court ye ninth day of Sept sixteen hundred & eighty five & the said Rogers by his will dated the thirteenth day of Sept sixteen hundred eighty three devised all of said nine hundred acres of land unto Anne Matthews, John Moor & James Barron & that James Barron surviving devisee of ye said Edward Rogers by his deed bearing date of first day of Nov anno seventeen hundred & nine conveyed ye same to John Waugh But for as much as ye said Rogers my ? therefore we find ye land escheated to ? ye said inquisition bearing date of fourteenth day of Aug in ye year of our Lord seventeen hundred & twenty eight doth & may more at large appear and whereas the aforesaid Lewis Elzey & John Waugh in behalf of his brother ye aforesaid Thomas Waugh did on y aforesaid sixth day of January set forth the pretensions in equity they ye said Lewis Elzey & Thomas Waugh to have ye said land surveyed & an equal division under which was according done & the land found to contain seven hundred & ? three rods & thirty seven perches now know ye that for divers good causes & considerations mut more expecially for & in consideration of ye completion for our use paid unto our agent & attorney & for ye annual rent hereafter reserved we have given granted & confirmed & by those presents for us our heirs & assigns do give as an ? and confirm unto ye aforesaid Edmund Hansen one ? third part of ye land containing two hundred ?ty four acres one rod & nine perches situate in ? in Stafford county aforesaid side of Potowmacks bank & bounded as follows... 1742 Edmond Hinson was listed on the Quit rent Roll for Stafford County, Virginia with 150 acres. [3]
1749 Brother Charles Hinson wrote his will, naming children of Edmond. [4]
1761 The will of Elizabeth Hinson of Overwharton parish, Stafford County, perhaps the wife of Edmond, was dated 16 November. George Bolling executor. Made bequests to Joseph Hinson, son of Edmund Hinson; Ann Elton, daughter of James Elton; Mary Thrailkill, daughter of Edmund Hinson; Lazarus Hinson, son of Edmund Hinson; Isbol Elton, daughter of Edmund Hinson. To Ann Boll, daughter of Edmund Hinson, all wearing apparel; to Elizabeth Ball, daughter of George, bed and furniture; to John Latham son of Mary Latham; to Jos Hinson one bed and furniture. All goods and chattel to be divided equally among my children. Probate 8 Dec 1761. [5]
