Notes for William d'Aubigny and de Plessis

Research Notes:

William d'Aubigny, seigneur of Aubigny (Albineium, Albiniacum), [Now Saint-Martin d'Aubigny, dep. Manche, arr. Coutances, canton Periers.] was in conjunction with his son Roger a benefactor of the abbey of Lessay. [Confirmation by Henry II (Delisle, Recueil des Actesde Henri I I, vol. ii, p. 302). Since Lessay was founded in 1056, William must have been living then and later.] He m. (—), sister of Grimald de Plessis. [Grimald gave Danvou and Bougy (Calvados) in marriage with his sister (Red Bk. of Exchequer—Rolls Ser.—p. 645 ; Recueil des Historiens de France, vol. xxiii, p. 700). Since Grimald suffered forfeiture and lifelong imprisonment as a result of the battle of Val-ès-dunes in 1048, the marriage must have been earlier.] [1]
