1724 On 16 April, Mary Stokes, daughter of John Stokes, and Edward Mullen, carpenter, all of Wellingboro, Burlington County, were married at Northampton Twp, Burlington County. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

1743 The will of John Stokes Sr named daughter Mary Mulling. [6]

1750 On 23 September, Mary Mullen was named as a daughter in the will of Elizabeth Stokes. [7]

1752 Edward Mullen had debts due to the estate of Isaac Cushman, of Northampton Twp, Burlington County, in the account of the administrator. [8]

1752 Edward Mullen was named in the account of the estate of John Gibson of Springfield Twp, Burlington County. [9]

1752 The will of Edward Mullen, carpenter of Burlington County, New Jersey named son Joseph, to have house, where he lives. Wife Mary 4 pounds yearly. Daughter Eliza Mullen, 10 pounds when 18. Son John, the house adjoining Joseph's and John to pay money to my wife and daughters Elizabeth and Martha Mullen. Son Edward, house where I live in when 21. Daughters named were Mary Burr, Meribeth Lippincot, Elizabeth and Martha Mullen. Executors were son John and son-in-law Joseph Burr. Witnessed by William Woolston, John Woolman. [10]

1753 Inventory by James Lippincott and John Woolman valued at £523.14.0. [11]

Research Notes:

"Mary [Stokes], married in 1734, Edward Mullen, and had a granddaughter, Keziah Burr, who married Richard Howell, afterwards governor of New Jersey, whose granddaughter married Jefferson Davis, the president of the Confederate States of America." [12]
