1768 Barzillai's brother Israel sold land in Willingboro Twp, Burlington County, from their father's estate to Barzillai, likely upon Barzillai's reaching age 21, as recorded in Burlington County deed A-143, dated 1773. [1]

1768 On 4th day of 4th month, Barzilla Coate was granted a certificate from Burlington MM to Evesham MM to marry. Elizabeth Coate was received at Burlington from Evesham 4th day 7th month. [2]

Elizabeth Stokes married B. Coate [3] [4]. Barzilla and Elizabeth Coates and 3 children were named in the Evehsam monthly meeting records. [5]

1773 Barzillai Coate, and wife Elizabeth, sold land from his father's estate in Willingboro Twp, Burlington County to Solomon Ridgway. [6]

1774 Barzillai Coate and wife and children, Hannah, William, and Edith were granted a certificate to Evesham on 5th day, 9th month. [7] [8]

1783 Barzlllai Coat, of Chester Township, Burlington County, yeoman, dated his will on January 18. Daughter, Edith Coate, 200 acres of land in New Hanover. Son, William, 140 acres; also 8 acres that I bought of Richard and Reece Edwards. Daughter, Hannah Coate, the plantation in Evesham, that I bought of John Haines, of 145 acres. Niece, Mary Wright, a meadow in Hanover, of 11 acres, and at her death, to my sister-in-law, Mary Wilkins, wife of John. The lands in Hanover that join to my daughter, Edith, Amos Atkinson, John Monrow and others, of 200 acres, to be sold. Wife, Elizabeth, the use of all my lands, until my children are of age. Executors: wife, Elizabeth, my brother-in-law, Joseph Stokes, and my friend, William Roberts. Witnesses: Samuel Stokes, William Atkinson, Samuel Haines. [9]

1783 On 30 December, Codicil. The 11 acres I gave to my sister-in-law I revoke, and I give her £30. I give my wife the said 11 acres. Witnesses: Thomas Bishop, John Cadwalader, Joseph Read. Proved May 25, 1784. [10]

1784 On 14 August, Inventories, £1,594.2.7, made by Elijah Burdsall and John Cox, which have come to the knowledge of Daniel De Benneville, and Elizabeth, his wife, who was the widow of Barzillal Coat. Filed Aug. 4, 1789. [11]

1788 On 14 February, William Coate, son of Barzillai Coate, deceased, married Sarah Hollingshead at the Evesham Quaker meeting, Burlington County. Witnessed by Eliz. D Benneville (Elizabeth Stokes-Coate-Benneville), Hannah Coate, Edith Coate, and many others. [12] [13] [14] [15] [16]

1790 On 18 of month 5, Hannah Coate, daughter of Barzilla (deceased) and Elizabeth Coate, of Chester, married Daniel Smith, son of Daniel Smith, at Evesham meeting, Burlington County. Witnessed by Elizabeth D Benneville (mother), Hannah Stokes (grand-mother?), William Coate (brother), Sarah Coate (sister-in-law), Edith Coate (sister), and many others. [17] [18]

c 1790 An account of the estate of Barzillai Coate was presented by executors Daniel Debeneville and Joseph Stokes to the Orphans Court. [19]
Daniel Debeneville and wife Elizabeth, late Elizabeth Coate, executrix, and Joseph Stokes, executor of the last will of Barzillai Coate, deceased, were ordered to restate the accounts in response to an attorney for William Coate and Daniel Smith and Hannah his wife, late Hannah Coate, heirs of Barzillai. [20]

1790 On 12 August, William Coate, Daniel Smith and Hannah his wife, and Edith Coate, children of Barzillai Coate, late of Burlington County, deceased, petitioned the Burlington County Orphans' Court to vacate [overturn] the administration made by Daniel Debeneville and Elizabeth his wife, late Elizabeth Coate. The petition noted that Joseph Coate, co-executor to the will had also asked that the decree be vacated and set aside. [21] [22]

1792 On 27 March, an account was presented by Daniel D De Benneville and Elizabeth his wife, late Elizabeth Coate, one of the executors of the estate of Barzillai Coate, to the Orphans Court. [23]
