Notes for Daniel Smith and Mary Murfin

1675 "Mary Murfin daughter of Robert & Anne Murfin of Hands Greani in the county of Nottingham borne the 24th day of the 2d month 1675" was recorded in the Quaker records of Nottinghamshire, England. [1] [2] The birth of Mary Murfin, daughter of Robert and Ann Murfin, born on 24 of month 2, at Eaton, Nottinghamshire, England, was recorded in New Jersey church records. [3] [4]

1678 Robert Murfin and family left England for New Jersey on the Shield of Stockton. [5]

1695 On 7 June, Daniel Smith and Mary Murfin made their second declaration of intention to marry, as recorded in the Chesterfield, Burlington County, monthly meeting minutes. [6] [7]

1695 Daniel Smith, of Burlington, and Mary Murfin, of Nottingham Township, were married on July 2, at Francis Davenport's house, Burlington County, New Jersey. Witnesses: Joseph, Emanuel and Samuel Smith, John, William, Anne and Joanna Murfin, Joshua Wright, Mahlon Stacy, John Curtis, Matthew Watson and others. [8] [9] [10]

1704 William Murfin and sister Sarah Bunting were married on August 8, at Chesterfield. Witnessed by Daniel and Mary Smith and others. [11].

1704 John Sykes and Joanna Murfin were married on October 19, at Chesterfield. Witnessed by Daniel and Mary Smith and others. [12]

1709 Daniel and Mary Smith, and others, witnessed the wedding, at Chesterfield, Burlington County, New Jersey, of Isaac Horner, of Mansfield, and Elizabeth Sikes, of Chesterfield on 19 of month 3. [13] [14]

Daniel Smith served in the Assembly [for Burlington]. [15]

1739 "Mary Smith was found drowned with her horse, in the year 1739, near Long Bridge, in the Northern Liberties; supposed to have occurred from her intending to give her horse water, where it was very deep. That was then the direct and only road to Burlington." [16] [17]

1742 Daniel Smith died. [18]

Descendants of Daniel Smith and Mary Murfin were mentioned in a personal diary. Their children were Daniel born 2 of month 2, 1696, married Mary Hoot; Robert born 9 of month 8, 1698, married Elizabeth Bacon; John born 20 of month 8, 1700, married Ann Farrels, Joseph born month 7, 1702 and died 19 of month 5, 1713; Benjamin born 8 of month 10, 1704, married Sarah Burling; Samuel born 23 of month 9, 1706 and died 19 of month 7, 1712; Mary born 3 of month 8, 1709 and died 20 of month 5, 1710; and Catherine born 22 of month 12, 1711.
