1524/25 George Twynyho wrote his will on March 2. [1]

In the name of god amen The yere of our Lord god a Thowsand fyve hundred and xxiiijti The secunde day of the moneth of March. I George Twynyho Esquier beying of good and parfite memory and sike in body make my testament and last will in this maner First I bequeth my soule to almighty god to our blissed lady saint mary and to all the saints in hevyn and my body to holy grave to be buried in the Abbey Churche of Shftesbury before the high awter nygh to the Sepulture of myn vncle maister Cristofer Twynyhoo. Item I will that Sir William Fouke preest nowe synging for my said vnkill at the said high awter shall there continually synge for him and for me during the terme of xxj yeres ordeyned by the will of my said vnkell vnto the tyme the same yeres be determined, and Immediatly after the same Terme fulfilled, I will that the same Sir William Fouke and in defaute of him oon other honest prest being an Englisshe man shall synge masse daily at the same awter for me and my frends during the terme of other xxj yeres. And the same preest to have yerely for his wagis vj li xiij s iiij d to be paid by myn executors and their coadmintours. Item I bequeth to the Abbey Churche of Shaftesbury for my sepulture Cs. Item I geve and bequeth to my Lady Abbesse of the monastery of Shaftesbury in money fourty pounds Item I geve and bequeth to every other Religious woman double vayled of the Convent of the same monastery beying at my burying iij s iiij d. And to every other syngell vayled xx d. And likewise at my moneth mynde I will euery mynchyn doubill vailed of the said Convent shalhaue iijs iiij d and euery mynchyn single vayled xx d Item I will that euery preest being at my burying shall haue xij d and in like wise at my moneth mynde euery preest shalhaue xij d Item I will that euery pour man beying at my dirige the nyght next before my burying to have ij d and the day of my burying euery pour man to have ij d And in likewise at my monethes mynde both at dirige and at masse euery pour man to have ii d. Item I geve and Bequeth to Anne my wife C marks in money two Saltsillers with a Couer of siluer and gilt of Square facion in the whiche couer the figure of Saint Antony is gravied and two standing Cuppes wt ij Couers of Siluer and gilt of the whiche oon of them maister Thomas Awdely hir fader whose armes be in the same and the other is that I bought of oon Savage nowe beyng in the kepinge of my lady of Shaftesbury And also I geve to the same Anne two doseyn of siluer sponys playn wt suyppes at the ends iij fetherbedds ij bolsters foure pillows vi pari of shets ij pairs of blankets and a Couerlett of Tappestry werke Item I geve and bequeth to my lorde chief Baron of the kyngs Eschequier whom I make and trust to be a Speciall coadmintour to my children wheiche shall by myn esecutorus an hundred pounds in money beseeching him instantly to be speciall good lord vnto my said Children and to se this my will executed and performied Item I geve and bequeth to Sir Thomas dalalynde knyghte whom I make an other coadintour wt my said lord chief Baron fourty pounds in mony two potts of siluer wt long necks and a standing cup with a couer which I had of Peter Anketill in pledge for Cs Item I geve and Bequeth to Leonard Chasyn whom I make also a coadmintour to myn executours with the forsaid lorde chief Baron and Sir Thomas Dalalynd fourty pounds in money. Item I will that all my Children as well they that I had the ward of as myn owne children by ordered and gouerned by my said lord chief Baron Sir Thomas Dalalynde and leonard Chasyn and to be fourne aswell with my goods as with the lands and other profits that I should haue by reason of any of the saide wars vnto the tyme they by of laufull age and good discrecion Also I will and deuyse by this by testament to the same lord chief Baron Sir Thamas Dalynd and Leonard Chasyn toward the fynding of the said Children all the landes and tenements wt thappurtenances that I have in the Citie of New Salisbury in the Countie of Wilshire And also all my landes and tenements in the Borough of Shaftesbury in the Countie of Dors Item I will that my said lord chief Baron Sir Thomas Dalalynde and Leonafe Chasyn shall Immediatly after my decess take paye and deliuer of my goodes and catalls money and plate as many of my forsaid bequests and legacies as may be conveniently And also paye my detts vnto the tyme my forsaid Children be of lawfull age and good descrecon Item the Residue of all my goodes and Catalls money plate and Jeuell before not gevyne bequeathed I geve and bequeth to Edward Cristofer and Elizabeth my Children in maner and fourme folowinge that is to sey First I will that all that goods and Catalls money plate and Jeuell be equally divided in ttree parts by the forsiad lord chief Baron Sir Thomas Dalalynde and Leonard Chasty and the onn parte there I will that the said Edward my sonne and heire shalhaue hooly to his parte Ant the other parts equeally to be deviueded in two several parts And the oon moytie therof I will that the side Cristofer my sonne shalhave for his parte And the other moytie therof I will that the said Elizabeth my doughter shallhave her parte. The which Edward Christofer and Elizabeth I make myn executors yf the lwe will soo suffer it And if not I make my said lord chief Barn Sir Thaomas Dalalynde and Leonard Chaffyn myn Executours to see this my will perfourmend and to pray for my soule These bering witness maister Thomas Scalys clerk maister Alexander Boston Clerk Leonard Chafyn which wrote this testament with other.
