1734 On 7 of month 9, Rachel Stokes, daughter of Thomas Stokes of Gloucester County, married John Cowperthwaite at the Haddonfield meeting house. Witnessed by Thomas and Rachel Stocks and Joshua Stocks and others. [1]

1741 Joshua Stokes married Amy Hinchman, daughter of John Hinchman and Sarah. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

1757 Joshua Stokes was an executor for the will of John Hammit of Waterford Twp, Gloucester County, New Jersey. [8]

1759 Joshua Stokes was an executor for the will of William Hepard, brother-in-law of Thomas Hinchman, of Waterford Twp, Gloucester County, New Jersey. [9]

1759 Joshua Stokes made the inventory for the will of Samuel Lippincott, of Evesham Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey. [10]

1760 Amy Stokes was named as a sister to Thomas Hinchman, of Newton Twp, Gloucester County, New Jersey, in his will. [11]

Joshua Stokes was named as the son of Thomas and Rachel Wright Stokes. Elizabeth Stokes was named as the daughter of Joshua and Amy Hinchman Stokes. [12]

Benjamin was the son of Thomas Stokes and Sarah Inskeep of Haddonfield, Gloucester County, New Jersey. Thomas Stokes was the son of Joshua Stokes and Amy Hinchman, also of Haddonfield. Joshua Stokes was the son of Thomas Stokes Jr of Haddonfield and Rachel Wright. Thomas Jr. was the son of Thomas and Mary Bernard Stokes of Burlington County, New Jersey. Thomas Stokes was the son of Henry and Elizabeth Stokes of Wentworth St., near Spittlefields, Middlesex, England. Henry was the son of Robert and Alice Stokes of Wycomb, Leicester, England.

Sarah Inskeep was the daughter of Abraham Inskeep and Sarah (dau. of George Ward) Inskeep of Gloucester County, New Jersey Abraham was the son of John and Mary Inskeep of Marlton, Gloucester County, New Jersey John Inskeep was the son of John Inskeep of Fooford in Staffordshire, England.

Amy Hinchman was the daughter of Joseph Hinchman and Joseph was the son of John Hinchman of Long Island, New York.

Rachel Wright was the daughter of Job and Rachel (dau. of John Townsend) Wright of Oyster Bay, New York. Job was the son of Peter and Alice Wright of Oyster Bay.

Mary Bernard was the daughter of John and Francis (dau. of Samuel Munt of Peldon Hall, Essex, England) Bernard of London.

In addition to the following bible record, the Friends Historical Library at Swarthmore College has letters sent by Thomas Stokes to his son Benjamin in Wayne County Indiana. While these letters have little genealogical data they do chronicle the events going on in the various Philadelphia Meetings that would later be characterized as the Hicksite separation.

Isaac Bellangee and Elizabeth Stokes were married on the 4th of the 2nd month, 1814 at the North Meeting House in Philadelphia, state of Penna.

Nathan Wilson and Sarah Stokes were married on the 24th of the 11th month of 1825 at the Ridge Meeting House, near Richmond, Wayne County, state of Indiana.

Edward Stokes and Sarah E. Joyce were married on the 10th of the 3rd month, 1832.

Alexander Stokes and Lydia Erwin were married on the 31st of the 12th month 1829 at the Ridge Meeting House, near Richmond, Wayne County, state of Indiana.

Thomas Cockayne and Martha Stokes were married on the 5th of the 3rd month, 1829, at the Ridge Meeting House near Richmond, Wayne County, State of Indiana.

Samuel Shute and Mary F. Stokes were married on the 31st of the 10th month 1867

Maria, daughter of Alexander and Lydia Stokes died 27th of the 10th month 1831, aged 11 months.

Benjamin, son of Alexander and Lydia Stokes died 6th of the 8th month 1835, aged a year and 8 months.

Alexander, son of Alexander and Lydia Stokes died 28th of the 3rd month, 1847, aged 3 years, 6 months, 15 days.

Alexander Stokes, Sr. died 29th of the 7th month 1849, (it looks like 84yrs. but the 8 or 7 is blurred but the 4 is plain) years, 9 months and 4 days.

Ann Stokes wife of Benjamin Stokes died 5th of the 9th month 1833

Ann Elizabeth, daughter of Alexander and Lydia Stokes died 26th of 5th month 1860, aged 23 yrs. and 6 months.

Edgar Alexander, son of Samuel E. and Mary P. Shute died the 7th of Dec., 1878, aged 6 years, 4 months and 13 days.

Lydia Stokes, wife of Alexander Stokes died April 25th, 1898, aged 92 years 7 months, 2 days.

John E. Stokes died Sept. 28th, 1907, aged 75 years, 8 months and 28 days, son of Alexander and Lydia Stokes.

Mary F. Shute died Mch 1, 1930 aged 90 yrs. 13 days, daughter of Alexander and Lydia Stokes."
