1850 Wellington (age 4) lived in Washington Twp, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania with parents Henry a cabinet maker (born 1795 in Germany) and Mary (born 1811 in New Jersey), who was listed as insane, and siblings Reboy (age 6), Wilmont (could be Trlmont) (age 5), and Lovina (age 2), all born in Pennsylvania. [1]

1860 Joseph and Ann Chronister lived in Reading Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania with children Ira (age 6), Laura (age 3), and Willis (age 9/12). [2] [3]

1860 Wellington's father, Henry Luke a cabinet maker (age 60), born in Bavaria, lived in Washington Twp, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania with Jane Crandal (age 21). No census listing has been found for Wellington in 1860.

1869 Mr Wellington O. Luke and Nancy E. Russell were married on September 7 in Auburn Twp, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. [4]

1870 Joseph and Anna Chronister lived in Reading, Adams County, Pennsylvania with children Laura (age 12), Willis (age 10), Clara (age 6), Lafayette (age 4), and Austin (age 1). [5] [6]

1870 William O Luke (age 23, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Auburn Twp, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Nancy Luke (age 22). Wellington was a farmer with estate valued at $200. [7] [8]

1873 Son Charles was born in Pennsylvania (based on 1880 census).

1874 Nancy E “Nellie” Russell Luke died on November 19 and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado. Nancy E “Nellie” Russell Luke was born on June 5, 1847. [9] [10]

1876 W.O. Luke and Laura Chronister were married in Dickinson County, Kansas on Oct 22. The marriage notice in the Gazette described W.O. Luke as the photographer in Abilene. [11] "W.O. Luke, the photographer in Abilene, married miss L. Chronister last Sun (Oct 22)." [12]

1878 Daughter Leona was born in Kansas, based on 1880 census.

1879-81 Luke and Wheeler (photographers) were listed in the directory for Leadville, Colorado at 321½ and at 427 Harrison (this is the Main street in Leadville, still today). [13]

c 1879 Ira Wolfe visited the Luke family in Colorado at about this time.

Ira Wolfe accompanied Mr. Wellington O. Luke on several photography trips around the West, according to the story written by Ira's son, Homer. The Denver Public Library has a collection of several stereographs of W.O. Luke. [14] The Getty has a collection. [15] The Carter has some photographs. [16] Several stereographs of W.O. Luke might be held at the Colorado Historicalo Center in Denver.

1880 Joseph and Annie Chronister lived in Cheever Twp, Dickinson County, Kansas with children Laura V. Luke (daughter, age 21), Willis (age 19, Carpenter), Clara (age 16), Austin (age 12), John (age 9), Newton (age 7), and Ira Wolfe (StepSon, age 27, Laborer, father and mother born in PA). [17] [18]

1880 W. O. Luke (age 33, born in Pennsylvania, married) lived in Leadville, Lake County, Colorado, in a household with Laura Luke (age 23), Charles Luke (age 7), Leona Luke (age 2), and Willis Chronister (age 21). W. O. Luke's father was born in Germany and his mother was born in Pennsylvania. W. O. Luke's occupation was photographer. [19] [20]

1882-91, except for 1887 W.O. Luke (photographer) was listed in the directory for Leadville, Colorado at 425, 328, and 523 Harrison. [21] [22]

1888 Grove and Luke were listed as photographers at 425 Harrison [23] [24]. Grove continued with a solo listing at these addresses through 1902. Other photographers also had this address at times.

1889 "Photographer Luke took several views" at the opening of the fish hatchery in Evergreen (1889 Oct 21, Carbonate Chronicle, Leadville, Lake County).

1894 Virginia L Luke and Wellington O. Luke were divorced on November 24 in Denver, Colorado. [25] [26]

1900 Wellington Luke (born in Pennsylvania in Feb 1847, single) lived in Wilkes Barre Ward 8, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in a household with sister Lavina Wright (age 51), niece Mame L Wright (age 13), and boarder James W Shoemaker (age 54). Wellington Luke's father was born in Germany and his mother was born in New Jersey. [27] Neither Laura nor their children have been found in this census.

1902 Virginia L Chronister Luke, daughter of Joseph Chronister and Anna M Brenizer, and Henry J Humphrey were married on March 17 in Manhattan, New York, New York. [28]

1907 Wellington O Luke, son of Henry Luke and Mary Little, died at age 59, on January 8 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Wellington O Luke was born on February 9, 1847 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. (Death certificate: 10587). [29]

1907 Wellington O Luke died on Jan. 8, 1907 and was buried at Hanover Cemetery, Hanover Green, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Wellington O Luke was born Feb. 9, 1847. The Findagrave memorial reported that Wellington O Luke was born at Limehill, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, USA. The Findagrave memorial reported that Wellington O Luke died at Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, USA. No grave marker photo is shown at the memorial. [30] [31]

W.O. Luke, who conducted the San Francisco photo studio in the Weitzenkorn building, died last evening at the City hospital after a short illness of apoplexy, aged 59 years. He was born at Lime Hill, Bradford County on February 9, 1847. He went to Colorado about 1865 and returned to this city in 1899. Mr. Luke is survived by one sister, Mrs. Levina Wright, of New York City, who was at his bedside at the time of his death, and the following nieces and nephews: Miss Amy Wright, of New York; Russell and Karl Luke of Kingston; Mrs. George R Rock, of Washington, D.C. and Mrs Dr. J. E. Schelfly of Edwardsville. Mr. Luke was a member of the Odd Fellows of this city. -- Wilkes Barre Times, Jan 9, 1907

1910 Virginia L Humphrey (age 45, born in United States, married for 8 years), guest, lived in Manhattan Ward 22, New York, New York, in a household with Henry J Humphrey (age 70). Virginia L Humphrey's parents were both born in United States. Virginia L Humphrey could read and write. [36]

1915 Virgina Humphrey, daughter of Joseph Chronister and Annie Armstrong [sic] died on June 4 in Manhattan, New York, at age 56. She had lived in Manhattan for 15 years. She was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery. She lived at 112 Cathedral Parkway. [37]

1924 Henry J Humphrey died on November 26. Henry J Humphrey was born on April 4, 1841. Henry J Humphrey lived in New York, New York. He had served in the military on December 22, 1865. [38]
