Notes for John Landes and Anna Good

c 1695 John Landis was born. [1]

c 1704 Anna Good was born. [2] [3]

John Landis and Anna Good were married.

1725 John Landis Sr and wife, and John Landis Jr and wife, Anna Good, were baptized in Pequea Creek, by Conrad Biessel, as members of the Conestoga Brethren congregation. [4]

Conrad Biessel, left the Brethren congregation. John Landis and Anna Good left with him.

c 1727 John Landis of Earl Twp was selected by Conrad Biessel to be a minister of the Ephrata cloister at Falckner's Swamp community. [5] [6]

Anna Good became enamored of Beissel and his teaching of celibacy. Anna "attached herself to him [Beissel] and did not care about her husband or her household until finally in a rage the husband [John Landis] wanted to strangle him." The hands of John Landis were tied and he was chased home. Anna Good was instructed to return to her husband, home, and children. [7]

1771 John Landis died. Anna Good returned to the Epthrata cloister. [8]

Research Notes:

"GA21 Anna Good, 24 born ca. 1704; [? will proved Apr. 3, 1779, Ephrata; 4 children] married John Landes, [? born 1695; will proved Nov. 27, 1771, Earl Twp.; son of John Landis 1664-1727)]." [9]

Some researchers have suspected that John Landis (1664-1727) was the same person as John Landis who married Anna Good [10].
