Notes for Johannes Steiner and Anna Brenneman

Research Notes:

We are researching the parents of Abraham Stoner, married to Mary Leib. Johannes Steiner and Anna Brenneman have been suggested as the parents of Abraham Stoner. We would be glad to hear of any further documentation about the parents of Abraham Stoner. The ancestry shown here is speculative and is included here to provide a place to display research notes. We have not sought, or found, original documentation for the following notes.

Hans Steiner was a Swiss Anabaptist in the Emmenthal Valley, Bern, Switzerland. [1]

Hans Steiner married Anna Brenneman [2]. A fanciful story of their lives was told by Matthias Pohl, naming Anna's ancestors and naming three children: Abraham (who reportedly married Elizabeth Brenneman)[3], Magdalena, and Jacob.

Hans Stiner and his wife moved to the German Palatinate to escape religious persecution. [4]

1710 Johannes Steiner lived at Enkenbach, Germany.

Hans Steiner and his wife moved to Pennsylvania. [5]

1719 Might be the John Steiner taxed in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Hans Steiner was ordained as a Mennonite Bishop. [6]

Hans and Anna have been named as the parents of the children shown here. [7]

Anna Brenneman's parents have been suggested to be Melchior and Christina Reusser Brenneman by some researchers. [http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=silveriemoon&id=I03602] [8]

Other researchers suggest that Anna Brenneman's parents might be Abraham and Magdalena Engel Brenneman.

Richard Warren Davis names different children for this Hans Steiner and no husband for Anna Brenneman, daughter of Melchior Brenneman [9]. Richard Warren Davis does not report a husband for Anna Brenneman, daughter of Melchior Brenneman.
