1767 "London Diocese 26th August 1767. Appeared personally Richard West and made oath, that he is of the parish of St John Wapping in the county of Middlesex Batchelor aged twenty one years and upwards and intendeth to marry with Martha Omer of the parish of St James Dukes Place, London, Spinster, a minor aged nineteen years & upwards by and with the consent of Roger Omer the natural & lawfull Father of the said minor and that he knoweth no lawful impediment ... to hinder the said intended Marriage, and prayed a Licence to solemize the same in the parish church of St James Dukes Place aforesaid and further made Oath, that the usual Place of Abode of her the said Martha Omer hath been in the Parish of St James Dukes Place for the Space of four Weeks last past. Then also appeared Personally the said Roger Omer and made Oath that he is of the parish of St Mary Magdalene Bermondsey in the County of Surrey Cordwainer and that he is the natural and lawfull Father of the said Minor and is consenting to the above indended Marriage with the said Richard West.
