1839 Jacob Bortner, generally known as old Commissioner Bortner, built a mill, later operated by Jonas M Bortner, shown here as Jacob's son-in-law. [3]

1850 Jacob Bortner (age 57, born in Pennsylvania) lived in South Codorus Twp, York County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Catharine Bortner (age 57), Daniel Bortner (age 26), Amos Bortner (age 25), Jacob Bortner (age 23), Matilda Bortner (age 19), Emanuel Bortner (age 16), Levi Bortner (age 14), and Julian Bortner (age 12). [4]

1857 Jacob Bortner died on May 12, 1857 and was buried at Saint Jacobs Stone Church Cemetery, Glenville, York County, Pennsylvania. Jacob Bortner was born Nov. 26, 1793. [5]

1880 Catarina "Catherine" Gerberick Bortner died on Mar. 8, 1880 and was buried at Saint Jacobs Stone Church Cemetery, Glenville, York County, Pennsylvania. Catarina "Catherine" Gerberick Bortner was born Sep. 27, 1793. [6]

Research Notes:

In a biosketch of Jonas M. Bortner, Jacob and Catherine Garwick Bortner, of Codorus Twp, were named as parents of Catherine Bortner, who married Jonas M. Bortner. [7]

Jacob and Catharine Garbrick Bortner were named as parents of Jacob. [8]
