Notes for Christian Meyer and Barbara

1690 Christian Meier was born on August 15, based on his age and date of death. [1]

1717 Hans Moyer received a warrant for land, dated September 27, on Conestogoe Creek in the County of Chester, adjacent to land of Melker Penerman [Melchior Brenneman] and John Ferrer. A survey was made dated October 19. [2] [3] The tract was near or adjacent to land purchased by Christian Moyer in 1728. [4]

Perhaps Hans Meyer, named in the 1717 land warrant, and Christian Mayer were brothers. Christian named his brother John in a bible record dated 1757.

1723 Christian Meier was of "Iresheimer hof" (Ibersheimerhof) when his father presented a bible to him on August 3. [5]

Ibersheim/Ubersheim is North of Worms, on the Rhine River, which flows to Rotterdam. Several maps show different aspects of the region. Ibersheim is not shown on some maps but is south of Ham. Some maps indicate the area as Anabaptist or Wieder tauf.

1727 Christian Meyer traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from Rotterdam, Netherlands via Cowes, England.

1727 Christian Mayer arrived in America on October 16 on the ship Friendship from Bristol, from Rotterdam, commanded by John Davies. Johannes Forrer [perhaps daughter Mary Meyer's husband] and Vinsent Mayer [relationship unknown] arrived on the same ship. [14] [15] [16] [17] Christian Meyer was named in the Council minutes at the Philadelphia Courthouse, among the Palatines who came on the ship Friendship when they took the oath of fidelity. [18]

1728 Benedict Venderick granted land on March 23 to Christian Meyer of Strasburg Twp. Benedict had received a warrant for the land on November 28, 1715 in Conestoga Twp, Lancaster County (then Strasburg Twp, Chester County). [21] [22] [23] Christian Meyer received a patent for the land on November 30, 1728. [24] [25] A survey of an adjacent tract, dated 1747, shows Christian Furree as the owner of the tract.

1734 Christian Meier promised on June 8 that the family bible would go to his son Abraham Meier. [26]

1735 Christian Meyer and wife Barbara sold 250 acres in Conestoga Twp to Christian Forrer on May 22. The land had previously belonged to Benedict Venderick (see note above dated 1728). [27] [28]

1748 On 26 December, Christian Meier wrote in his bible that after his death the bible would go to his grandson Christian, son of his son Abraham. [29]

1750- Brother John Moyer was taxed in Lancaster Twp [30]

1757 Christian Meier wrote in his bible "my brother John Meier died. He lived in this world of sorrow 73 years, 3 weeks and 3 days". [31]

1757 Christian Meyer acknowledged payment for the land sold in 1735, and stated that his wife Barbara had died long before. The deed, dated May 4, was delivered to John Good. [32]

1760 Christian Meier died on September 12 at age 73y 3w 3d according to an entry made in his bible by one of his children. [33]

I have not found Christian Meyer of Ibersheim in the Mennonite Palatine census records. [36] The family of John Forrer, husband of daughter Mary, was listed at Ibersheim in the census.

I have not found Christian or Hans Moyer in tax records for either Conestoga Twp or Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County. [37] Son-in-law John Forrer was taxed in Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County.

1751-70 Abraham Myer was taxed in Lancaster Twp. Son Abraham may have died in 1767, so this may be a different person. If this was son Abraham, then perhaps Christian Myer lived with him. [38] [39] [40] [41] [42] [43] [44] [45] [46] [47] [48] [49] [50] [51]

1714 A survey was made of 700 acres of land in Strasburg Twp, Chester County, for Christopher Sleogle. The land was patented to Hans Mayley: "This 700 acre is now patented to Hance Mayley, being wholly relinquished by Schlegel he never paying a peny for the purchase or survey." [52] This land is near or adjacent to land purchased by Christian Moyer in 1728. This is not a different spelling for Hans Meyer. Hans Meilin died and granted the land to son John Meilin. [53]

1754 John Moyer and wife Mary sold a lot on Mulberry Street, Lancaster Borough to George Lutz. Deed dated January 30. [54]
