1942 Obituary: Union City Times-Gazette, Tuesday, February 3, 1942. "Death claims F. L. Eichelberger on East Side. Franklin (Frank) L. Eichelberger, 64, died at his residence, 307 East Main street, Union City, O., at 5:25 p. m. Monday, death following a serious illness of two days. He had been in failing health for three years. Death was attributed to coronary occlusion. Mr. Eichelberger was born in Jackson township, Darke county, on May 1, 1877 and lived in the community his entire life. On January 30, 1897 he was married in Union City to Pearl Strait. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Eichelberger of Union City; two sisters, Mrs. Orville (Dick) Shank of Union City and Mrs. Clarence H. Hoover of Anderson; the father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. James B. Eichelberger, and two grandchildren, Richard and Patricia Ann, all of Union City. The deceased attended the old No. 5, or Thomas school, in Jackson township, Ohio. He was a former member of the I. O. O. F. His last occupation, prior to his death and illness, was that of automobile salesman for the Smith & Son garage. From 1926 to 1933 he owned and operated the East End grocery. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p. m (CST) at the Union City U. B. church in charge of Rev. L. G. Ludwick of Cincinnati and Rev. R. B. Ditmyer of Union City. Burial will be in the Teegarden cemetery. The body will be removed from the Fraze funeral home to the residence this afternoon. Friends are invited to call."
