Research Notes:

There were several cousins, in multiple generations, named Peter Winebrenner. It is unclear which Peter is being referred to in certain documents. In particular, it is unclear which of Peter Winebrenner, who died in 1837 in Hanover, York County and Peter Winebrenner, who died in 1813 in New Orleans was a son of Christian Winebrenner (died 1815) and which was a son of George Winebrenner, brother of Christian Winebrenner (died 1815).

Christian Winebrenner (died 1815) had sons Peter, Sebastian, and Christian (died 1832). Christian Winebrenner (died 1832), was named as an heir, apparently surviving, of Christian Winebrenner (died 1815), in the final 1839 account. Similarly, the account names Sebastiana as a heir, but a newspaper announcement dated 1823 named heirs of Sebastian Winebrenner. We suspect that the executor (who succeeded the first executor, who had died) did not know of the deaths of these two sons of Christian Winebrenner (died 1815). Peter, son of Christian Winebrenner (died 1815) was also named as an heir, apparently surviving, in the final 1839 account of Christian Winebrenner's estate. Christian (died 1815) would have known if his son had died in 1813. Lacking any other evidence, we have assumed that Peter Winebrenner, who died in 1837 in York County was a son of Christian (died 1815) and that Peter Winebrenner, who died in New Orleans in 1813, was a son of George Winebrenner [19].

"Peter, about whom we have no information as yet, except from the old letter of May 7, 1900 which says he had a son Joseph to whom his cousin, David S of Philadelphia, gave his land in the West, acquired for services in the War of 1812." [20]

1830 Peter Winebrenner, too young to be this Peter, lived in Woodbury Twp, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (under 5), 2 (5 thru 9), and 1 (30 thru 39); and females: 1 (under 5), 1 (10 thru 14), and 1 (30 thru 39). [21]
