Notes for Enos Rohrer Detwiler and Lydia A Mishler

1905 Enos Detwiler, son of John S Detwiler and Martha Rohrer, and Lydia A Mishler were married on August 8 at Elkhart County, Indiana. [1]

1933 Enos Detwiler died and was buried at Harrison Chapel Cemetery, Goshen, Elkhart County, Indiana. [2]

"Enos Detwiler, 76, who lived five and a half miles northeast of town in Harrison township, died Tuesday morning, on the farm where he spent his life. He was born October 14, 1856, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Detwiler. He was married to Lydia Mishler in 1905. Mr. Detwiler suffered a stroke of paralysis last Nov. 12. He appeared to have recovered until two weeks ago when complications developed, and he became confined to his bed. Surviving are his wife; five children, Walter, who lives near the home farm, Harvey Detwiler and Mrs. Harold Tavernier of Elkhart, Noble at home and Mrs. Robert Kent of Wakarusa; a brother, John Detwiler of Deerbrook, Wis.; two sisters, Mrs. John Singer and Mrs. Susan Swoverland of Foraker; and six grandchildren. The funeral will be held today (Thursday afternoon) at the Yellow Creek Mennonite Brick Church, Rev. Charles Wright and Rev. A.B. Yoder, in charge. Burial will be in the Chapel cemetery. - March 23, 1933" [3]

1944 Lydia Detwiler died and was buried at Harrison Chapel Cemetery, Goshen, Elkhart County, Indiana. [4]

"Mrs. Lydia A. Detwiler, 74, died at 7 o'clock this morning at the home of a son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Robert Kent, 3½ miles south of Wakarusa, where she had lived since November. She had been in failing health 5 years. Mrs. Detwiler was born July 15, 1869, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Mishler, one-half mile south of Foraker. Her marriage to Enos Detwiler took place in August, 1905. He died in 1933. In addition to the daughter, survivors include a son, Noble Detwiler, of near Foraker; 3 step-children, Walter Detwiler of Goshen, Harve Detwiler and Mrs. Bertha Tavernier of Elkhart, a brother, Levi Mishler, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Saylor, both of Goshen. The body will be taken from the Rohrer funeral home at New Paris Wednesday noon to the Noble Detwiler home, where a short prayer service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, followed by a service at 2:30 at the South West MBC church, of which she was a member. The Revs. Simon Moore of Mishawaka and Delmer Horn, pastor, will be in charge. Burial will be in Evangelical Chapel cemetery, near the Yellow Creek Mennonite church." [5] [6]
