Notes for Jacob Bender and Maria Elisabetha Zimmerman

Research Notes:

We are researching Jacob Bender [1], spouse of Catharine Schneider. Johan Jacob Bender and Maria Elisabetha Zimmerman have been suggested, by some researchers, as the parents of Jacob Bender. Several records might be relevant to this possibility:

1717 Hanß Jacob Bender and Maria Elisabeth Zimmerman were married on November 22 in Nußloch, Baden (Baden-Württemberg), Preußen. Hanß Jacob Bender was a son of Michel Benders. [2]

1719 Elias Nicolaus Bender, child of Joh. Jacob Bender and Anna Elisab. Bender, was baptized on March 29, 1719, in Evangelische Kirche Herxheim (BA. Dürkheim), Haßloch, Bayern (bavaria), Deutschland (germany). Elias Nicolaus Bender was born on March 25, 1719. [3]

There were several immigrants named Jacob Bender:

1738 Jacob Bender, Elias Nickel Bender, and Jacob Nicklas Bender immigrated to Philadelphia, from Rotterdam by way of Plymouth, on 19 September 1738 on ship "Thistle" with commander John Wilson [List 57 A] [4] [5]. Jacob Nicklas was age 16, if he is the Jacob who died in 1786. Daniel, Johan Ada, John Henry, and Johan Peter Schneider were also on board. [6] We suspect that these three were Jacob Bender and sons Jacob Nicklas and Elias Nickel.

1727 On 30 September, [Hans] John Jacob Bender, perhaps this family or their son, immigrated on the ship Molley from Rotterdam with shipmaster John Hodgeson. [7] [8] Johann Jacob Bender with wife Apolonia and children Johann Caspar and Johann Jacob immigrated in 1727. [9]

1752 Georg Niclaus, John Jacob, and Jacob Bender were emigrants from Eschelbach Lutheran Church in 1752. [10]

1756 Jacob Penter dated his will on July 24, 1756. The will was proved on September 18, 1756 in Philadelphia County (Now Montgomery County) Pennsylvania, K-457. He was a cordwaine. [11]

Jacob Penter. County of Philadelphia. Cordwainer. July 24, 1756. Sept. 18, 1756. Children: Elias, Jacob, George, Mary Elizabeth, wife of Philip Fidler, Catherine, wife of Bernhard Gilbert, Anne and Mary. Exec: Wife, Eve and son-in-law Bernhard Gilbert.
