c 1787 Jacob Meals may have been born about this time, if he was age 21 when he was first taxd in 1809.

1809-11 Jacob Miels/Meals, wagonmaker, was taxed as a single man in Menallen Twp, Adams County. [1] [2] [3] [4]

1820 Jacob Meals lived in Hamiltonban, Adams County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (under 10), 1 (16 thru 25), and 1 (26 thru 44); and females: 2 (under 10) and 1 (26 thru 44). [5]

1823 Both Jacob Meals and his wife died. [6]

Meals, Jacob. Departed this life, on Thursday morning, the 25th ultimo (September 25, 1823), at his residence in Hamiltonban township, Mr. Jacob Meals, after a very short illness, in the 40th year of his age - leaving a wife and three small children to lament the loss of a most affectionate husband and father; and society has lost a worthy and useful member, and a truly honest man. 1 Oct 1823 Page 3 Republican Compiler, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. 1823 On 11 October, Jacob and Daniel Weldy were appointed administrators for the estate of Jacob Meals in Adams County, Pennsylvania. [7] [8]

1824 On April 10, Samuel Meals [perhaps Jacob's father] was appointed as administrator of the estate of Mary Meals, in Adams County, Pennsylvania. [9]

1824 On 12 April, at the Orphans' Court at Gettysburg, York County, Pennsylvania: "on application the court appoints [Jacob's brother] David Meals to be guardian of the persons and estates of Hannah Meals, Sarah Meals, and Jacob Meals minor children under the age of fourteen years of Jacob Meals, dec'd." [10]

1826 On 28 August, at the Orphans' Court at Gettysburg, York County, Pennsylvania: "The petition of Jacob Weldy and Daniel Weldy, administrators of Jacob Meals ... saying that Jacob Meals lately died intestate leaving a widow and children Hannah Sarah & Jacob Meals, all minors, That he died seized and possessed in fee of and in a certain undivided moiety of two hundred and thirty eight acres of land ... situate in Hamilton ban Township, Adams County adjoining lands of Alexander Mack, Mrs Williams, Arthur Bennet & others. That the personal property is insufficient to pay the debts of said intestate ... praying the court to grant them an order to sell said real estate..." [11] The land was sold to Samuel Louder on 12 January 1827. [12]

1835 "Notice is hereby Given" ... "The account of David Meals, guardian of Hannah, Sarah, and Jacob Spangler" [sic] and "The account of Jacob Weldy, administrator of the estate of Jacob Meals, deceased." was posted in the Adams Sentinel on 26 January. [13]

1835 On 3 March, at the Orphans' Court at Gettysburg, York County, Pennsylvania: "Came into court Sarah Meals minor daughter (about the age of fourteen) of Jacob Meals deceased and prays to be permitted to choose a guardian of her person and her estate and being asked by the court named John Quigle [husband of Jacob's sister, Elizabeth]." Also, "On application of Daniel Weldy the court appoint John Quigle guardian of the person & estate of Jacob Meals Jr minor child of Jacob Meals (under the age of fourteen) deceased. [14]

1839 John Quickel, guardian of son Jacob Meals, died. On November 27, at the Orphans' Court at Gettysburg, York County, Pennsylvania: "The petition of Jacob Meals, minor son of Jacob Meals of Menallen Twp, deceased, was read to the court setting forth that he is now above the age of fourteen years, that whilst under the age of fourteen, John Quickel lately deceased was appointed ... his guardian, that he is entitled to a small sum of money - say about twenty dollars - and has no person to take care of his person." Frederick Quickel was appointed guardian. [15]

1868 On 21 October, Jacob Meals of York Springs, Huntington Twp, Adams County, made a Civil War border claim due to Stuart's raid, of $330, which was awarded [16] [17].
