1807 Catharina Mill was born on July 16, daughter of Samuel Mill and Maria. She was baptized on September 6 with sponsor Henry Bender at Benders Church, Biglerville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [1]

1830 George Black lived in Menallen Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 2 (under 5), 1 (5 thru 9), 1 (10 thru 14), 1 (15 thru 19), and 1 (30 thru 39); and females: 1 (5 thru 9), 1 (15 thru 19), and 1 (20 thru 29). [2]

1840 George Black lived in Menallen Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (10 thru 14), 2 (15 thru 19), and 1 (40 thru 49); and females: 1 (under 5), 1 (5 thru 9), 1 (15 thru 19), and 1 (40 thru 49). [3]

1844 Moses Black, son of Geo. Black and Cath., was born on January 30. He was baptized on July 6 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in York Springs Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [4] [5]

1846 Wilhelmina Black, daughter of Geo. Black and Cath., was born on July 5. She was baptized on November 29 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in York Springs Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [6] [7]

1850 George Black (age 57, born in Pennsylvania) and Cathrine Black (age 43) lived in Bendersville, Menallen Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania, in a household with John Black (age 16), William Black (age 13), Andrew Black (age 11), Moses Black (age 7), Mary Black (age 15), Elizabeth Black (age 14), Emley Black (age 8), Wilhemina Black (age 3), and Susan Black (age 4/12). 1860 George Black (age 71, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Menallen Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Catharin Black (age 52), Moses Black (age 15), Whilliam Black (age 13), and Susan Black (age 10). [10] [11] [12]

1860 George Black died on Dec. 30, 1860, at age 68y 9m 29d, and was buried at Bendersville Cemetery, Bendersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [13] [14] A death notice reported [15]

Died On the 31 ult., in Menallen township, Mr. George Black, aged 68 years, 9 months and 30 days.

1861 The will of George Black, of Menallen Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania, was dated April 29, 1859 and was proved on January 8, 1861. The will named wife Catharine, son Conrad, daughter Mary, son Henry, son Christian, son Andrew, and other unnamed children. The account of the estate was made several times, by different persons. Samuel Meals purchased land of the estate and was listed among many payments and transactions. Moses Black purchased a house lot. [17] [18]

1862 Susannah Black died on January 26 at age 12y 7d and was buried at Bendersville Cemetery, Bendersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. Susannah Black was born on January 19, 1850, daughter of George Black. [19] [20]

1870 Catherine Black (age 63, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Menallen Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania, in a household with William Black (age 33). [21]

1875 Catharine, wife of George Black, died on September 1, at age 68y 1?m 15 d, and was buried at Wenksville Cemetery, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [22] [23]

1910 Andrew Franklin Black, son of George Black, died at age 72, on January 5, 1910 in Menallen Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania. Andrew Franklin Black was born on September 30, 1837 in Pennsylvania. (Death certificate: 795). [24] [25]

1916 Moses M Black, son of Geo Black and Katherine Meals, died at age 72, on October 26 in Menallen Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania. Moses M Black was born on January 30, 1844 in Adams County, Pennsylvania. (Death certificate: 102012). [26]

Research Notes:

George's wife was likely age 40-49 in the 1840 census, so Catharine (age 43) in 1850 is likely a different person. We have assumed, without further evidence, that children born before 1840 were children of an earlier wife.
