1860 Simon Brenizer (age 20) was a farm hand working for Jacob and Elizabeth Ihrig (perhaps Elizabeth's parents) in Wayne Twp, Wayne County, Ohio. [1] This is apparently a double listing, also with his parents. [2]

1864 Simon Brenizer enlisted at age 24 as a sergeant in Company A, Ohio 169th Infantry Regiment on 13 May 1864. He mustered out on 04 Sep 1864 at Camp Cleveland, Ohio.

1870 Simon Brenizer (age 30) lived with his parents in Green Twp, Wayne County, Ohio. [3]

1870 Simon Brenizer (age 30) was a farm hand working for Jacob and Elizabeth Ihrig in Wayne Twp, Wayne County, Ohio. [4]

1873 Simon Brenizer and Emma C. Wagner were married on February 13, in Wayne County, Ohio. [5]

1876 Daughter Jennie Brenizer was born on February 16, in Orange Twp, Ashland County, Ohio. [6]

1880 Simon Brenizer (age 40) and wife Catherine (age 26), lived in Goodwin, Deuel County, Dakota Territory with Maudia (age 5), Jennie (age 4), and Elmar (age 1). Mother-in-law Barbara Wagner (age 60, born Germany) lived with them. Simon's parents were born in Pennsylvania and Ohio, matching this Simon. Catherine was born in France. [7] [8]

1883 An obituary for Emma Catherine Wagner Brenizer reported [9]:

On the 24th of April, at Altamont, Dual county, Dakota, of consumption, Katherine, maiden name Wagner, wife of Simon Brenizer, aged 29 years, 9 months and 12 days. She leaves a deeply bereaved husband and four children, the youngest seven weeks old. She suffered about one year, but bore all patiently. She had no fear of death, but said The Lord's will be done. Two weeks before her death she dreamed that an angel came to her and said to her, Wait yet a little while and I will come again. A short time before her death she spoke of a sudden,* and said, Oh how beautiful! On being asked what she saw that was so beautiful, she said, Oh my beautiful angel, do you not see it. These were her last words that could be understood. Funeral services were held by a blind minister ---- Holsington in the English language.

1900 S Burnazer (born in Ohio in May 1840, widowed) lived in Clear Lake, Deuel County, South Dakota with daughter Jennie M (age 24) and son Elmer E (age 21). S Burnazer's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. S Burnazer was a farmer. [10]

1904 Simon Brenizer died [on December 4] and was buried at Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake, Deuel County, South Dakota. Simon Brenizer was born on [May 28,] 1840. His wife Catherine (1854-1883) and daughter Cora (1883-1883) were buried with him. [11]
