1759 George Hassler, fourth son of Michael and Margreta Kormen Hassler, was born on November 14, 1758 in Merion Twp, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. [1]

1777 George Hassler and Eva Lau were sponsors for Eva Lau born and baptized September 1777 to George and Magdalena Lau in York County. [2]

1779 Johann Georg Hassler, son of Joseph and Anna Maria Hassler, was born in November. He was baptized with sponsors Maria Catharina Lau and Georg Hassler. [3]

1780 George Hosler was a fifer in Captain George Gieselman's company in York County, Pennsylvania. [4]

1781 George Hassler and Elizabeth Roemer were married on June 25, at the First Trinity Reform Church in York County, Pennsylvania. [5]

1781 Joseph and Anna Marie Hassler sold land to George Hassler, all of Codorus Twp, York County. Dated August 30. The 4 acre tract was in Codorus Twp adjacent to lands of Sebastian Harleman, Andrew Shettley, and Michael Hassler, and the great road leading from York Town to Baltimore. The tract was part of a larger tract previously owned by Michael Hassler, deceased, father of George and Joseph Hassler. Joseph had inherited the land by the will of Michael Hassler dated February 5, 1774. [6]

1782 George Hassler was paid in Capt. George Gieselman's Company in the 7th Battalion of York County Militia. [7]

1782 George Hasler was taxed 1 pound 2 shillings and 6 pence for 4 acres and 2 cattle in Codorus Twp, York County, Pennsylvania. [9]

1783 George Hassler was taxed for 4 acres and 4 inhabitants in Codorus Twp, York County, Pennsylvania. [10]

1785 The heirs of Frederick Roemer the elder granted land from the estate to Frederick Roemer. Dated May 2. The heirs included Francis Jacob Roemer and wife Catharine, Henry Roemer and wife Judith, George Hasler and wife Elizabeth, John Hershinger and wife Catharine. Recorded February 1, 1787. [11] Frederick Roemer then purchased the land from the other heirs. [12] [13]

1788 George Hassler was a fifer in Capt. George Gieselman's Company [14]

George Hosler was listed for depreciation pay, York County Militia. [15]

1789 George Hassler received a warrant for a tract of 213 acres in Codorus Twp, York County on February 12. [16] The survey showed 222 acres and adjacent landowners included Joseph Hassler, Nicholas Messersmith, Andrew Shetler, David Gaur, Peter Low (Lau), Peter Hock/Hoke, and the widow of John Boyer. [17] A survey for John Boyer made in 1733 showed the land belonging to David Grier. [18] A 1788 survey of David Grier's (Gaur) tract, on a branch of the Codorus, named George and John Houser (Hassler) as owners. [19] A land patent for 129 acres by the name of "Clearfield" was granted to George Hassler on 1 Jun 1790. 122 acres of it lay in what was then called the Manor of Springetsbury. The land was adjacent to lands of Joseph Hasler, Peter Low, David Gaur, Andrew Shelter, Nicholas Messersmith, John Beker, and widow Boyer. [20]

1790 George Hosler lived in Codorus Twp, York County, Pennsylvania. [21]

1790 George and Elisabeth Hasler sold land to Christian Showalter on July 16. [22]

1790 George Hassler sold his property in Codorus Twp, York Co and bought land in Adams County, then a part of York County, in Straban Twp four miles from the city of Gettysburg. Later a part of the Battle of Gettysburg was fought on his property. [23] [24] [25]

1792 George Hassler bought 15 acres and 106 perches from Luke Brinkerof in Straban Twp, York County. [26]

1794 George Hassler bought 185 acres and 66 perches from Peter Kurtz. [27] George's land was four miles north-east of Gettysburg. During the Civil War (1861-65) a part of the Battle of Gettysburg (July 1-4,1863) was fought on George's farm and is now included in the historic battlefield records. [28]

1798 George Hosler, wagonmaker, was named on the direct tax list for Straban Twp, York County, Pennsylvania. [29]

1837 The will of George Hassler was in probate court on May 29 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The will named wife Elizabeth and children John Frederick, George, Henry, Jacob, Christian, Elizabeth, Lydia, and the children of deceased son Daniel. [30] [31]

George Hassler died in 1837. He was buried in the graveyard of the Trinity Reformed Church of Gettysburg. The stones of that cemetery have since been moved to the Citizens Evergreen Cemetery.
