"Peter W. Stoner, born 1888 in Kansas, was my Grandfather. I know lots about him if anyone wants to know. His brother was George, sister Ella. Family moved to Calif. in 1907. Their father was Christian Cowan Stoner--went by C.C. Born in Blair Co. Penn., moved with family as a boy from Penn. to Noble Co. Indiana (in the dead of winter with $3 and a cow). Fought in Civil War--forager for Generals Grant and Sherman's armies on their march through the south. At review in Wash.D.C. Brother David and 3 cousins killed in war. Married Rachel Winebrenner, moved to Kansas, self-taught lawyer, judge and state legistater. After move to CA was mayor of Orange. His father was Jacob Stoner, who married Polly A. Cowan.
