1851 Abraham W Reed was born on February 4. [1]

1870 Abraham Reed (age 52) lived in Union City, Elkhart County, Indiana, with wife Mary Reed and Noah (age 23), Aaron (age 21), Anna (age 21), Abraham (age 19), Mary (age 17), Lydia (age 17), and Elias (age 15). [2]

1878 Abraham W Reed and Emma J Sheets were married on December 1 in Elkhart County, Indiana. Daniel Wysing was the officiator. The license was issued on November 29, 1878. [3]

1900 Emma J Reed (born in Ohio, married for 21 years), wife, lived in United States, in a household with Abraham W Reed (age 49), Ira C Reed (age 21), Grover C Reed (age 16), George F Reed (age 12), and Amos L Reed (age 9). Emma J Reed's parents were both born in Ohio. Emma J Reed had had 6 children. [4]

1910 Abraham W Reed (age 59) and Emma J Reed (age 49) lived in Elkhart County, Indiana with George H (age 22) and Amos L (age 19). [5]

1920 Abraham W Reed (age 68) and Amy J Reed (age 59) lived in Union Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana with George H (age 31). [6]

1926 Emma J Reed (1860-1926) died and was buried at Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee, Elkhart County, Indiana. [7]

1930 George H Reed (age 41) lived in Union Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana with father Abraham W Reed (age 79) and cousins Paul S Sheets (age 26), Alma Sheets (age 26), Donabelle Sheets (age 7), and Max D Sheets (age 0). [8]

1933 Abraham W Reed lived in Nappanee, Indiana. [9]

1940 George H Reed (age 51) and Alice L Reed (age 31) lived in Union Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana with children Marilyn (age 6), Franklin R (age 3), and George A (age 2), and with father Abraham W Reed (age 89). [10]

1941 Abraham W. Reed died on November 30. He was born on February 4, 1851. [11] [12]

Abraham W Reed, 90, retired farmer, died at 8:20 Sunday morning at his home in Union township, where he had resided for the past 53 years. Death was due to heart complications. He suffered his first heart attack on Sunday, November 23, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs George Reed.

The deceased was born in Mahoning county, Pa, on February 4, 1851, and was brought to Indiana by his parents, Abraham and Mary Weaver Reed, when he was 10 years old. His marriage to Emma Sheets took place December 1, 1878. She died May 11, 1926.

Surviving are four sons, George, Ira Clayton of this place, Grover Cleveland of Niles, Mich, and Amos L of near Nappanee; a sister, Mrs Mary Musser, 89, of Harrison township; 19 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, a prayer service at the home at 1:30 o'clock and further services at the Union Center Church of the Brethren at 2 o'clock. The Rev Edward M Miller officiated. Burial in adjoining cemetery. Mr Reed was a charter member of St John's Lutheran church of Nappanee.
