Notes for Christian Musselman and Mary

1671 Christian, son of Christian Mosiman and Barbara Jou (perhaps of Frittenbach), Anabaptist, was baptized with sponsors Hans Brechbühl, Hans Lichti, and Anna in Lauperswil on February 5. [1] [2]

A biosketch reports [3]:

Christian Musselman lived in Lancaster Township, along the Conestoga Creek near Wabank. He died in 1734, leaving among other children, two sons, Peter and David Musselman (the name in German was spelled Mossermann). Peter purchased land from Christian Herr in the Manor southeast of Millersville. David moved to Hempfield Township, where he owned large farms.

1724-25 Henry and Christian Mudlman were listed in the Conestoga assessment, Chester County (now Lancaster County). [4] [5]

1726 Charles [Christian?] Musselman was taxed in Lancaster Twp, Lancaster County. [6]

1734 A payment was made to Samuel Blunston from Christian Musselman for 50 acres of the tract originally surveyed to A Hare (1660/73-1725), father of Abraham Herr (1700-1785). [7]

1734 The will of Christian Musselman was dated June 29, and was probated on October 8. Daughters and wife were provided for, but were not named. Son David inherited a plantation, upon payment to other heirs, including son Michael. Son Peter inherited the family property in Lancaster Twp. Children were Henry, Frena, Eva, David, Michael, and Peter. Executors were Michael Frantz and Michael Gritter. [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]

1800 Christian Musselman perhaps lived on land he purchased from Abraham Herr. Abraham Herr patented 600 acres of land in 1717. [14] Abraham Herr died intestate and son Abraham Herr inherited 295 acres of the land. Abraham Herr and wife Anna deeded 36 acres to Peter Musselman in 1746. Perhaps Christian Muselman, who had died in 1734 and gave his land to son Peter never received a deed from John Herr for his land, so it was deeded to Christian Musselman's son Peter Musselman. Peter Musselman also received land from Ludwig Stone at the same time. Many siblings of Peter were named. [15] [16]

Research Notes:

1721 John Musselman, relationship to Christian Musselman unknown, was listed in the Conestoga assessment. [17] [18]
