c 1747-56 Samuel Good was of age for taxation and inheritance in 1769, so he may have been at least age 21 then, suggesting that his birthdate was before 1747. One source reports a birth year about 1756, but with no justification. [1]

1769 Samuel Good was named as an heir of Christian Good in a deed between Samuel's mother, Magdalena, and his oldest brother, John. [2]

1769 Samuel Good was taxed as a single man (freemen) in Brecknock Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [3]

1771 and 72 Samuel Good was taxed as a freeman in Brecknock Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [4] [5]

c 1772 Samuel Good and Mary Brand were married about this time, perhaps. Samuel was taxed as a married man in 1773. In 1786 he was married to Mary, daughter of Joseph Brand.

1773 Samuel Good was taxed in Brecknock Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for 200 acres and 2 horses. [6]

c 1776 Samuel Good, farmer, owned 150 acres in Brecknock at the end of the Revolutionary War. [7]

1778-1780 The names of several son and sons-in-law of Christian Good appeared on a list of fines (cash received of delinguents for non-performance of militia duty and exercise) in Lancaster County [8] in Col. David Jenkin's Battalion [9]: Michael Wenger; Henry, Jacob, and Peter Good; Christian Swartz; Henry Good; Samuel [10], Peter, Jacob, Christian Good; and George Klopper.

1779 Samuel Good was taxed in Brecknock Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [11]

1782 Samuel Good was taxed in Brecknock Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for 130 acres, 2 horses, and 2 cattle. [12]

1786 Samuel Good and wife Mary were named as heirs in the will of Joseph Brand. Anna Brand, widow of Joseph Brand, deceased, late of Paxton Twp, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and John Brand and Freny his wife & Joseph Brand & Samuel Brand all of the same state and John Oberholtser & Elizabeth his wife & John Gingery & Freny his wife both of the township of Lebanon & Christian Good & Barbara his wife and Samuel Good & Mary his wife and Abraham Brand all of the township of Brecknock in the county of Lancaster & John Roads & Catharina his wife and Magdalena Brand and Susanna Brand & Regina Brand, of one part and Christian Swartz of the township of Paxton, Dauphin County of the other part, were parties to a deed dated March 1. Joseph Brand, deceased, had purchased land from Samuel and Andrew Hannah in 1766. Joseph died intestate and the tract became property of the widow and children of Joseph, parties to the deed, to wit: Anna Brand the widow of the late Joseph Brand, John Brand, Joseph Brand, Samuel Brand, John Oberholser who married Elizabeth one of the daughters, John Gingery who married Freny another daughter, Christian Good who married Barbara another daughter, Samuel Good who married Mary another daughter, Abraham Brand, John Road who married Catharina another daughter, Magdalena Brand, Susanna Brand, and Regina Brand. Christian Swartz purchased the tract from the heirs. The tract was bounded by lands of Alexander McClure, John Neisly, Richard McClure, Henry McKinsey, James Harris, John Means?, James Lusk (now Patrick Lusk). Affirmed before the clerk by John Neisly and others and by several of the parties to the deed in in 1792. In 1795, John Eirely and Regina his wife, late Brand, appeared. [13]

1789 Samuel Good was listed as an heir of Christian Good, deceased, in Lancaster County Orphans Court records dated August 5. [14]

1790 Samuel Good lived in Brecknock Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in a household with 4 males under age 16, 1 males age 16 and over, and 5 females. [15]

1800 Samuel Good lived in Brecknock Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 3 (under 10), 1 (10 thru 15), 3 (16 thru 25), and 1 (45 and over); and females: 1 (10 thru 15), 1 (16 thru 25), and 1 (45 and over). [16]

1810 Both Samuel and his son lived in Brecknock Twp, Lancaster County:

1810 Sam'l Good (senior) lived in Brecknock Twp, Lancaster County in a household with 2 males age 10-15, 5 males age 16-25, 1 male age 45+, 2 females age 16-25, 1 female age 45+. [17]

1810 Samuel Good (junior) lived in Brecknock Twp, Lancaster County in a household with 1 male age 0-9, 1 male age 26-45, and one female age 26-45. [18]

1814 Samuel Good and Samuel Good, son of Sam'l were taxed in Brecknock Twp. [19]

1820 Samuel Good Sr (age 45+) lived in Brecknock Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with Males: one (age 16-25), four (age 26-44) and Females: two (age 26-44). [20]

1823 Samuel Good's will was dated 15 June and was proved Oct 4, 1823 in Brecknock Twp. Samuel was named as a yeoman and the will named wife Mary and children Christian, Samuel, John, Peter, Joseph, Henry, Abraham, Catharine, and Mary. Son John received 123 acres in Brecknock and son John received 47 acres in Brecknock and son Peter got 2 acres of woodland. Sons Christian and Samuel were named executors. Christian and Peter Guth were witnesses. [21] [22]

1850 Many of the children of Samuel were named in a deed involving the estate of son John Good, who died unmarried and without children. The brothers and sisters named were Christian, Peter, Abraham, Maria (Good) wife of David Burkhart and Samuel (deceased). They released Joseph Good, executor of the estate. [23]

1820 Samuel Good Sr (age 45+) lived in Brecknock Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with Males: one (age 16-25), four (age 26-44) and Females: two (age 26-44). [24]

Mennonite Records name Mary Brandt as the spouse of Samuel and name their children. [25] This is documented by the 1786 will of Joseph Brand. Son Joseph was named. [26] [27] [28]

Mary Annistead Burwell has been named as the spouse of Samuel Good by some researchers. We seek documentation for this possible marriage.
