Notes for Jacob Kauffman and Magdalena Hiestand

1762 Four of the five sons of Andreas Kauffman received warrants for land on January 4 and received patents for land in Conestoga Manor, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on January 6 [1]. Christian [2] [3], John [4] [5], Jacob [6] [7], and Michael [8] [9] Kaufman got warrants and patents on the same dates as each other. Jacob's patent was also related to a warrant by Andrew Kauffman [Andreas] dated November 2, 1737. [10] Brother Andrew Kauffman, who inherited the family land according to the will of their father Andreas Kauffman, had paid his siblings for their shares of the estate. Michael Kauffman, of Manor Twp, was granted a second land patent for 130 acres dated April 6. [11] [12] See also [13].

1762 The land warrant for Jacob Kauffman stated "Whereas upon a division of the estate late of the said Andrew Coffman since his decease, amongst his children, … became the property of Jacob Kauffman, one of the sons of the said Andrew … confirmation by patent to the said Jacob Kauffman …" [14]

1781 Jacob Kauffman of Manor Twp, Lancaster County was called as a witness for a case brought by the Republic against Peter Greybill. [15]

1790 Jacob Kauffman lived in Manor Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with 3 males age 16+, 2 males age under 16, and no females. [16]

1792 Jacob Kauffman was a subscriber to the Philadelphia-Lancaster Turnpike. [17]

1812 Jacob Kauffman of Manor Twp dated his will on March 3 and it was in probate court on July 31. The will named children: Andrew, Henry, John, Jacob, Joseph, Elizabeth, Magdalena, Adam, Barbara, and David. Executors Christian Kauffman and Abraham Miller. [18]
