1726 John Herr was born on June 26. [1]

1731 Mary Meyer was born on November 6. [2]

John Herr married Mary Meyer. [3]

1748 John Herr, perhaps this one, received a warrant for land in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on October 5. John Herr received a patent for 203 acres on October 26. [4]

1782 John Herr, Old Abraham's son, was taxed in Manor Twp, Lancaster County for 100 acres, 3 horses and 3 cattle. [5]

1792-1796 The will of John Herr of Manor Twp, Lancaster County was dated May 12, 1792 with probate April 18, 1796. Wife: Mary Herr. Children: Abraham, John, Ann wife of Jacob Kendig, Mary wife of Andrew Kauffman, Barbara wife of Jacob Bixler, Feronica wife of John Seegrist, and Elizabeth wife of George Hyde. Executors Mary and Christian Herr. [6] [7]

1796 John Herr died. He was buried in Masonville Mennonite Cemetery, Manor Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [8]

1797 A Lancaster County deed involved part of the estate of John Herr of Manor Twp, Lancaster County, deceased, including two tracts of land adjacent to lands of Henry Light, Christian Baughman, Jacob Martin (more recently of John Herr, deceased), John Creamer, Christian Herr (previously Abraham Herr), John Kendrick (now of Christian Berg), George Bitner, John Manning, Peter Leman (now Henry Light) and a hemp mill and saw mill. John died with will dated 2 May 1792 and granted monies to widow Mary and the 106 acres of land in Manor Twp with saw mill and hemp mill conveyed to him by father Abraham and mother Anna by indenture dated 3 March 1760 (Lancaster deed G-103). The second 20 acre tract in Manor Twp was conveyed to John Herr by John and Barbara Manning on 7 June 1773 (Lancaster deed PP-107). The lands were granted to son John who granted, with executors wife Mary and brother Abraham, part of the estate to his sons Abraham and John and his seven children . Son John's heirs were named as Abraham Herr, Ann Kendig, Andrew and Mary Kauffman, Jacob and Barbara Bixler, Veronica and John Segrist, John and Veronica Bixler, with widow Mary Herr. [9]

1805 Widow Mary Herr dated her will on May 25, in Manor Twp, Lancaster County. She named grandson John Bixler, minor son of daughter Barbara; Feronica wife of John Segrist; Mary wife of Andrew Kauffman; Barbara wife of Jacob Bixler; and deceased daughter Elizabeth wife of George Hyde; deceased daughter Ann Kendig and her nine children; son Abraham, son John. George Hyde sole executor. Proved October 31, 1807. [10]

Research Notes:

1786 John Herr was listed on the septennial census for Hellam Twp, York County, Pennsylvania. [11]

Two different men have been confused in The Genealogical Record of Rev. Hans Herr, revised, numbered 12 and 44, named John Herr with a wife named Mary Myers and with parents named Abraham and Anna Herr. [12].

Person number 12 is reported in both the original and the revised editions:

12. John, Manor, Pa., d. 1796. [Family of Abraham Herr (2) and Anna] [13]

12. Johannes "John" Herr, June 26, 1726 - April 9, 1796, was married to Mary Myer, Nov. 6, 1731 - Oct. 20, 1807. They are both buried in the Masonville Mennonite Cemetery, Manor Township, Lancaster County, Pa. (Will, J-1-94, probated date April 18, 1796.) [14].

No family is reported for person 12, except as implied by will J-94

Person number 44 is reported as a nephew of person 12 in the original edition [15]:

44. John, Manor, Pa., d. May 2, 1792; m. Mary Myers; d. May 5, 1805. [Family of Abraham Herr (9) and Anna Miller].

"Family of John Herr (44) and Mary Myers" [16] names the children in wills J-94 and I-237.
