1835 Lafayette Brenizer was born on August 4, 1835.

1850 Mary Brenizer (age 44) lived in South Middleton, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania with children Joanna (age 16), Lafayette and Washington (age 15). [1] Lafayette was also listed on the farm of Benjamin Goodyear. [2]

1853 Washington and Lafayette Brenizer, minors of age over 14 and heirs of Mary Brenizer, late of Reading, petitioned the Orphans' Court on June 21 for Henry Picking to be their guardian. [3]

1855 Lafayette Brenizer married Elizabeth Plank. [4]

1855 Adeliad Virginia Brenezer, daughter of Lafayette and Elisabeth Brenezer, was born or baptized on October 29 at the Lutheran and German Reformed Church in Arendtsville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [5]

1859 Jacob Edward Brenezer, son of Lafyett and Elizabeth Brenezer, was born or baptized on July 29, in Adams County. He was baptized at the Lutheran and German Reformed Church. [6]

1860 Lafayette Brenizer (age 24) and Elizabeth (age 23) lived in Adams County, Pennsylvania with children Virginia (age 5), Jacob (age 1), and Robert (age 3). He was a carpenter journeyman. [7] [8]

1861 Lafayette Brenizer enlisted in the army on September 21 at age 26 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He was a carpenter from Arendtsville, Adams County, Pennsylvania.

1861 Lafayette Brenizer, Corporal, mustered in to Company K of the 101st Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers on November 5. [9]

1862 Harvy Meliklen Brenezer, son of Lafyett and Elisabeth Brenezer, was born or baptized on June 26 at the Lutheran and German Reformed Church in Arendtsville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [10]

1862-63 Lafayette Brenizer was acting division Quarter Master from Sept 1862 to Feb 1863.

1862 Robert McClean died in Adams County, Pennsylvania and the obituary reported that Lafayette Brenizer was serving in the federal army.

1863 Lafayette Brenizer became sick at Suffolk, Virginia and was discharged on March 3, 1863 as a Corporal.

1863 Lafayette Brenizer, married, carpenter, age 27, of Loudon Twp, Cumberland County was registered for military service on June 5. He had previously served in 101 Penn Regiment, company K. [11] [12]

1864 Lafayette Brenizer enlisted again on February 1, 1864 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania as a Private in Company B, 21st PA Cavalry. Lafayette was promoted to full sergeant on July 23, 1865. [13] [14] [15]

1864 On 18 June, Lafayette Brenizer was shot in the left side of his neck during a Cavalry charge on some fortifications at Petersburg, Virginia. He was sent to City Point, Virginia where he was then shipped to Delaup general hospital on Davids Island, NY. From there he was sent to Citizens Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to recuperate. 1864 Lafayette Brenizer went back to his unit on August 23, 1864.

1865 Lafayette Brenizer received a saber cut across his face during a cavalry engagement at Amelia Springs, Virginia on 5 April 1865 [16]. [Photocopy, Sergeant Lafayette Brenizer wounded 5 April 1865.]

1865 Lafayette Brenizer mustered out as a 1st Sgt on July 8, 1865 at Lynchburg, Virginia.

1865 Lafayette Brenizer was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on July 23.

1866 Lafayette Brenizer was a lieutenant serving at Norfolk, Virginia.

1868 Sally R. E. Brenezer, daughter of Lafayette and Elisabeth Brenezer, was born or baptized on April 1 at the Lutheran and German Reformed Church in Arendtsville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [17]

1870 Charles Allen Breneiser, son of Lafayette and Elisabeth Amelia Plank Breneiser, was born on March 26 Gettysburg. He was baptized at the Lutheran and German Reformed Church in Arendtsville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [22] [23]

1870 Lafayette Brenizer (age 35) and Elizabeth Brenizer (age 34) lived in Gettysburg, Cumberland Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania with children Adelaide V (age 15), Jacob E (age 11), Harry M (age 9), Sally Rosanna (age 4), and Charles Allen (age 5/12). Lafayette was a farmer and his real estate was valued at $2500 and his personal property at $800. [24] [25]

1870 Lafayette Brenizer ran in an election for inspector in Cumberland Twp, Adams County. He apparently lost by 4 votes. [26]

1871 Lafayette Brenizer was named to the jury in Cumberland Twp. [27]

1871 Lafayette Brenizer sold his property of 20 acres, with improvements, in Cumberland Twp, Adams County, to Jacob Pfoutz for $1,700. [28]

1871 Lafayette Brenizer announced, on April 5, his intent to move with his family to Lexington, Davidson County, North Carolina. [29]

1880 Lafayette Brenizer received a pension as an invalid from the Civil War for service in K 101 PA Infantry and 13(or B) 21 PA Cavalry.

1880s Lafayette Brenizer moved to Abingdon, Virginia and his widow was living in Knoxville, Tennessee when she died on December 28, 1927.

1880 Lafayette Brenizer and Elizabeth lived in Glade Spring, Washington County, Virginia with children Harry M (age 18), Sallie RE (age 13), Charles (age 10), John L (age 8), and Mary L (age 5). [30] [31]

1880 Lafayette Brenizer was named on a pension filing dated June 3 in Virginia. Elizabeth Brenizer was named as his dependent. [32]

1882 William Brenizer, son of Lafayette Brenizer and Elizabeth Brenzer, was born on October 14 in Washington County, Virginia. [33]

1886 Sallie R. Brenizer, age 19, and James M. Skelton were married on November 24 in Washington County, Virginia. Sallie R. Brenizer, daughter of L. Brenizer and Elizabeth Brenzier, was born in 1867 in Adams County, Pennsylvania. [34]

1890 Lafayette Brenizer was listed at Abingdan Dist 1, Washington, Virginia, in the census of veterans of the Civil War. [35]

1900 Lafayette Brenizer, a farmer born Aug 1835 in Pennsylvania, lived in Abingdon, Washington County, Virginia with a house keeper and a boarder. [36]

1900 Elizabeth Brenizer, mother, born June 1837, lived in Knoxville ward 9 in Knox County, Tennessee, with James Skelton, born June 1860, and his wife Sallie R., born April 1867 and their three children Earnest B. (born Apr 18870, Bertha M. (born May 1889), and Robert D. (born June 1898). Elizabeth and Sallie were born in Pennsylvania, James and Earnest were born in Virginia, and Bertha and Robert were born in Tennessee. James was a foreman in an R.R. shop, and he and Sallie had been married 14 years. Elizabeth was listed as a widow. [37]

1905 Lafayette Brenizer, age 70, was at the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Johnson City, Tennessee. [38] [39]

1910 Lafayette Brenizer died on March 25, 1910 in the National Soldiers Home, Johnson City, Tennessee. "Effects were turned over to Mrs Elizabeth Brenizer, widow, 920 E 10th St, Chattanooga, Tenn, April 5, 1910". He was buried in Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City, Tennessee. Section D, Row 4, Grave # 7. [40] Widow Elizabeth received a pension for Lafayette's service in the Civil War (filed from Virginia). [41] [42] [43] His military records reported that he was 5 feet 7 inches tall with dark complexion, and black hair and eyes. [44]

1910 Elizabeth Bernizer (age 73, born in Pennsylvania, widowed), mother-in-law, lived in Abingdon Twp, Washington County, Virginia, in a household with Ray Hagy (age 37), Mamy Hagy (age 33), Zola M Hagy (age 16), Della Hagy (age 15), Hubert Hagy (age 13), and Lonne Hagy (age 10). Elizabeth Bernizer's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. [45]

1920 Elizabeth Brenizer (age 83, born in Pennsylvania, widowed), mother-in-law, lived in Abingdon Twp, Washington County, Virginia, in a household with Ray B Nagy (age 46), and Mamie B Nagy (age 44). Elizabeth Brenizer's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. Elizabeth Brenizer could read and write. [46]

1927 Elizabeth Brenizer lived at 123 Carrick, Knoxville, Tennessee. [47]

1927 Elizabeth Brenizer, widow, died in Knoxville, Tennessee on December 28. Elizabeth, daughter of Jacob E Plank and Sarah Ferney, was born on June 21, 1834, in Pennsylvania. Mrs. J. M. Skelton was the informant. [48] [49]

1927 Elizabeth Plank Brenizer died on December 28 and was buried at Sinking Spring Cemetery, Abingdon, Washington County, Virginia. Elizabeth Plank Brenizer was born on June 21, 1834. [51] [52]

1942 Harry M. Brenizer, widowed, son of L. Brenizer and Elizabeth Plank, died on January 3, at age 79, in Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee. Harry M. Brenizer was born on June 26, 1862, in Penn. Harry M. Brenizer had lived at Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee. Harry M. Brenizer was a Railroader. [53]

1950 Son Charles Brenizer died in Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee on June 18. Charlie, son of Lafayette Brenizer, was born on March 26, 1870 in Pennsylvania. Charlie was married and was a passenger conductor for the Southern R.R. [54]

1954 Daughter Sallie Brenizer Skelton died in Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee on April 1. Sallie, daughter of Lafayette Brenizer and Elizabeth Plank, was born on April 21, 1867 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Sallie was a widow. [55]
