1270 Robert de St. John died before February 3 when the marriage of his widow Agnes was granted. [1]

Feb. 3. Westminster. Grant to William Belet of the marriage of Agnes late the wife of Robert de Sancto Johanne, who held in chief, or any fine she make with the king for the said marriage or forfeiture pertaining to the king if she marry without the king's licence.

1271 Agnes, widow of Robert de St. John, married John de Turville before June 14. [2]

Johannes de Turvill' et Agnes de Sancto Johanne uxor ejus recognoverunt in cancellaria se debere Willelmo Belet sexties viginti marcas , unde reddent eidem Willelmo triginta marcas in quindena Sancti Johannis Baptiste proximo futura , et triginta marcas in quindena Sancti Michaelis proximo sequenti, et triginta marcas in festo Sancti Hillarii proximo sequenti, et triginta marcas in quindena Pasche proximo sequenti. Et, nisi fecerint, con cesserunt quod dicta pecunia levetur de terris et catallis predict orum Johannis et Agnetis in comitatibus Sussex' et Suthampt'. Et sciendum quod Willelmus la Zouche nichilominus tenetur ad solucionem predictarum sexties viginti marcarum juxta recogni cionem suam prius rotulatam, si predicti Johannes et Agnes defecerint in solucione dicte pecunie ad terminos predictos. Et ipsi Johannes et Agnes tenentur satisfacere prefato Willelmo la Zouche de dampnis et expensis, si que occasione solucionis pecunie predicte non solute ad terminos predictos per ipsum fieri contigerit. Teste rege apud Westmonasterium xiiij. die Junii.

1285 A charter of Robert de St. John, son and heir of William de St. John, was confirmed on Aug. 6. [3]

Aug. 6. Woolmer. Inspeximus and confirmation of a charter of Robert de Sancto Johanne, son and heir of William de Sancto Johanne, to the prior and convent of Boxgrave, exempting their tenants from suit of his courts of Halnak and other his manors. Witnesses:—William de Ripar', Ralph de Rye, Ralph de Raliche, Thomas de Argenteyn, Matthew de Venoyz, knights; Peter de Turevile, then steward, Nicholas, parson of Chauton, Robert Autresy, William de Sevebech, John de Merewe, William de Camera, John de Cristechirche, John Legat and others.
