"the German family named Kobar - afterward changed to Coover - who immigrated to this country as early as 1760. Soon after this date ... Gideon Coover, bought a large tract of land, being of the Manor on Conodoguinet, situated by the Cedar Spring, south of Shiremanstown, Cumberland Co., Penn. One of his sons, [was] Hon. George Coover," [1]

1734 Anna Elizabeth Kober, daughter of Dietrich Kober, was born on May 12, 1734. She was baptized on May 21, 1734 at a Lutheran church in Conewago, Pennsylvania. John Adam Heyl and wife were sponsors. [2]

1738 John Egideus Kober, son of Dietrich Kober, was born on December 18, 1738. He was baptized on December 24, 1734 at a Lutheran church in Conewago, Pennsylvania. Egidius Hoffman was a sponsor. [3]

1741 George Kober, son of Dietrich Kober, was born on January 27, 1741. He was baptized on February 22, 1741 at a Lutheran church in Conewago, Pennsylvania. John Egidius Hoffman and wife were sponsors. [4]

1743 Anna Margaret Kober, daughter of Dietrich Kober, was born on May 13, 1743. She was baptized on May 23, 1743 at a Lutheran church in Conewago, Pennsylvania. Thomas Krevel and wife were sponsors. [5]

1748 John Michael Kober, son of Dietrich Kober, was born on November 30, 1748. He was baptized on November 27, 1749 at a Lutheran church in Conewago, Pennsylvania. David Fisher and wife were sponsors. [6]

A biosketch of grandson John Coover, through son George Coover, reports that Gideon Kobar/Coover immigrated as early as early as 1760 and bought the Manor on Conodoguinet situated near Cedar Spring, south of Shiremanstown, Cumberland County. [7]
