Notes for Joseph Bowman and Anna Nancy Huber

1784 Joseph Bowman was reported born on January 22. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Jacob Bowman married Anna Nancy Huber. Probate documents and the will of Christian Huber name Anna Bowman as his sister and name her heirs. Several of the children of Anna Huber Bowman named in those papers match the children named in the 1840 will of Joseph Bowman. The 1812 will of Jacob Huber, whom we show as the father of Anna Nancy Huber, named daughter Nancy and son-in-law Joseph Bowman in the will. Note that Joseph Bowman had a daughter named Anna Nancy. Perhaps Nancy Huber, daughter of Jacob Huber, and Anna Huber, sister of Christian Huber, were the same person who was the spouse of Joseph Bowman. A deed dated 1824 names Joseph and Nancy Bowman of Cumru Twp, Berks County as the grantees.

1890 Documents from the probate records of Lydia Huber, daughter of Jacob Good, and her deceased spouse Christian Huber named collateral heirs of both Christian Huber and Lydia Huber. [5] A document dated June 2, 1890, named collateral heirs. [6] A translation of the will of Christian Huber clarifies that the heirs of Christian were all descendants of his sister Anna. [7] [8] The list of collateral heirs is quoted below:

The decedent [Christian Huber] died testate of the 15th day of August A.D. 1850 leaving to survive him a widow but no issue, but collateral heirs. The said widow [Lydia Good Huber] died intestate on the 15th day of Sept. 1889.

Research Notes:

Mennonite Records [36] [37]

Several reports suggest that Joseph Bowman and married Mary Huber, but the notes above show that her name was Anna Nancy Huber. Two deeds dated 1816 and 1819 name Joseph and Mary Bowman of Robeson Twp, Berks County but also clarify that Joseph Bowman of Cumru Twp is a different person from Joseph Bowman of Robeson Twp.

1791 Mary Huber, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Weber) Huber, was born on December 13. [38] [39] [40]

Joseph Bowman and Mary Huber were reportedly married. [41] Joseph Bowman was a Mennonite farmer and they resided on the homestead of Joseph's father. [42] [43]

1816 Joseph and Maria Bowman of Robeson Twp, Berks County sold land to Nicholas Lesher. [44]

1819 Joseph and Maria Bowman of Robeson Twp, Berks County, gave power of attorney to John Bowman of the same township and to Joseph Bowman of Cumru Twp, Berks County. [45]
