1850 Joseph Males (age 37, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Washington, Butler County, Pennsylvania with Hannah Males (age 31), Isaac Males (age 7), Perry Males (age 5), George W Males (age 3), Wm C Males (age 1), and Susanah Douglass (age 22). [1]

1860 Joseph Meals (age 46, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Concord, Butler County, Pennsylvania, at post office Butler, with Hannah Meals (age 40), Isaac Meals (age 16), Samuel Meals (age 14), Neomi Meals (age 8), Thomas Meals (age 5), and Margret Meals (age 1). [2]

1870 Joseph Meals (age 56, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Concord, Butler County, Pennsylvania, at post office Hooker, with Hannah Meals (age 51), Isaac Meals (age 27), Naomi Meals (age 19), Thos Jefferson Meals (age 17), Alford S Meals (age 5), and Joseph Meals (age 12). [3]

1893 A memorial stone for Joseph G Meals (1813-1893) was placed at Oakwood Cemetery, Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio. [4]

1896 A memorial stone for Hannah Meals (1820-1896) was placed at Oakwood Cemetery, Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio. [5]

A biosketch reports [6]:

Joseph G. Meals, second son of George Meals, was born in Worth township, Butler county, June 6, 1813. He removed with his parents into Concord township when about four years old, and later to Washington township. He married Hannah Hilliard, a daughter of Isaac Hilliard, to whom were born ten children. Five of these grew to maturity, viz.: Isaac; Samuel P.; Naomi J., wife of E. E. Kidder; Thomas J., and Sheridan T. Mr. Meals was a stonemason, and followed his trade in connection with farming until his death, May 5, 1893. His widow resides with her daughter in Warren, Ohio. He was an elder in the United Presbyterian church, and in politics, a Republican.
